Oreos! Yum! Oreo Truffles is the perfect dessert for any occasion. Everyone loves Oreo Truffles! They are very easy to make, you need only a few ingredients. Perfect for impromptu parties and for those who do not usually make desserts. You can also serve it in variety of flavors such as peanut butter, Nutella, peppermint, and coffee! For me, Oreo Truffles topped with crushed nuts is the best. For today we’ll only discuss the basic Oreo Truffles recipe.

Ingredients:

1 pack Oreo cookies, divided

1 pack cream cheese, softened

1/2 pack Unsweetened Chocolate, melted

Oreo Truffles Step by Step

You'll also need a food processor, baking pan and baking sheet.

Let's start!

1. Crush one whole pack of Oreos using food processor. Wait until the texture is crumby. Then, add the softened cream cheese into the mixture until well blended.

2. Use an ice cream scooper to scoop out the mixture and place it in the baking sheet. Form the scooped mixture into balls. Place the mixture in the freezer for an hour to chill.

3. Melt the chocolate in low heat. Cool it down for a minute. Then, use two spoons to dip the ball in to the chocolate. Make sure they are evenly coated. Then place again on a wax paper-covered baking sheet. Sprinkle your toppings before putting it back to the freezer to chill for 30 minutes before serving.

Oreo Truffles Flavors

For the mixture, you can use different flavors of Oreos. Depending on where you are located, there are new amazing Oreo flavors you can find in your grocery stores. The Oreo Thins and chocolate coated Oreos might not be a good choice but the other flavors are good to use for this Oreo Truffles recipe.

For the coating, you can use different chocolates such as dark chocolate and white chocolate. If you like other flavors, you can use white chocolate then just add food flavoring like ube and strawberry. I recommend you use McCormick food flavorings for this.

As for the toppings, cocoa powder is mostly used as toppings for Oreo Truffles. Other choices includes chopped nuts (walnut/almond), sprinkles, powdered sugar, or cocoa nibs. Or you can just drizzle melted chocolate on top of the frozen truffle. For extreme Oreo lovers, they top their Truffles with more crushed Oreos.

Oreo Truffles Recipe Troubleshooting

The mixture falls apart and doesn’t form into balls. – Do not use the double stuffed Oreo because it has too much filling. It will not hold your mixture and will fall apart. Use the regular ones.

The ball falls apart when I dip them in chocolate. – Avoid using sticks or toothpick to dip the balls. Use two spoons instead. Also, make sure they are well chilled before dipping it in chocolate.

I don’t have food processor. – You can put the Oreos in a zip lock bag and crush it into fine crumbs. You can use rolling pins or meat hammer. If you don't have neither, you can try using wine bottle or any thick bottle you have in the kitchen.

Uneven sizes of Oreo balls – use an ice cream scooper for consistent sizes. If it's unavailable, you can use measuring spoon, or just a plain spoon.
