5 Quick Breakfast Meals for Moms
When time is not on your side

As Moms I know we all want to be able to provide a nice home cooked meal that we spend hours making and then serve our family all together every single night like a modern day "Wonder Years" scene from back in the day.. - SIKE! The fact of the matter is, this is not back in the day and these are not the Wonder Years! As a little girl I won't lie, that is what I aspired to do. I wanted to be a stay at home Wife, have kids, cook three square meals, kiss my Husband when he came home and take his brief case but I also wanted a career. I am starting to think maybe I was dropped on my head as a kid or something because, what was I thinking?!
Outside of the economy and the need for things to be different than they were back in the 60's and 70's, it just isn't ideal for this to happen for every Mom everywhere. For the Mom's that don't have all the time in the world for whatever reason (like me) this is for you. Here are 5 meals you can make for breakfast that won't take you all morning to prep or prepare.
1. Instant Pancakes
There are a few different brand and different kinds but my all time favorite are the "just add water" kinds. My kiddos prefer Aunt Jemima but they are all boys and we all know boys are literally garbage disposals ha, they eat EVERYTHING. These pancakes take about 10 mins to prep for and that includes the time it takes the stove to warm up and the skillet as well as time for you to mix them together. If you struggle with getting your pancakes to have a familiar shape you can always use a small spoon and drip your batter into the frying pan/skillet. My Dad taught me young, if you pour your batter in middle then they will be perfect every time. Hack: Use a pizza cutter if you like to cut the pancakes up or if the little humans demand it, it is way faster than a traditional fork and knife.
2. Frozen Waffles
These take about 3-4 minutes top and if you can teach your kiddo how to operate a toaster, toaster over or microwave you can allow them a little freedom to make them alone with you standing by of course. Look at that, you are teaching important life skills and you don't even have to raise a finger ha! If you want to get fancy or add a little razzle dazzle you can throw some frozen sausage on the side and a few pieces of fruit.. boom- looks like a commercial plate!
3. Pop Tarts
Now, I will be the first to admit that while these are super quick they are not the healthiest and are jam packed with sugar. I never said this list would appease the food period watchers but it will get something in your littles belly until lunch. Pop Tarts come two in a pack and as a kid I could never finish the second one but that was a part of the beauty because then I had something to snack one. Pop Tarts are not required to be toasted but you can warm them up. There are so many flavors to choose from I am sure there is one to satisfy every sweet tooth.
4. Eggs and Rice
Hear me out! I know someone is reading this like uh, what? Well, both eggs and rice are not only affordable but they are more importantly filling! There are so many variations of egg, you can do boiled, fried or even sunny side up and then throw on some instant rice and boom- full until lunch. My twins are usually the ones that do not mind this meal but if you are unsure you can always sub the rice for a traditional piece of toast and go old school eggs and toast. Hey, don't knock the eggs and rice until you have tried it!
5. Oatmeal
Maybe my favorite in this list, good old Oatmeal. The "cream" line is my go to but really all my kids will eat Oatmeal if they are hungry enough and the twins LOVE it. It is warm and can be paired with fruit or toast and literally takes 1 minute and 15 seconds. If you aren't really and Oatmeal kind of person you can also try instant grits, those are quick too!
I hope you have enjoyed reading this list and have taken something away from it. Remember, you don't need to be the perfect Mom and your kids don't want that- they just want you happy.
