10 Best Donut Shops in L.A.: Modern, Weird, and Traditional
No matter what you like, the City of Angels has you covered

Los Angeles, California, has a ton of donut shops to consider when you're in the mood for some tasty treats. Here, donut shops can be found which reflect a variety of styles - from traditional to quirky and weird.
There are so many great shops in LA that it can be hard to know which one is the best. So I looked into where the best places are for donuts in Los Angeles and found 10 of them.
The list includes traditional spots like Randy's Donuts and more modern shops like Voodoo Doughnut, which make their own wacky creations.
If you're looking for some unique spots or neighborhoods in LA with great donuts, this is the article for you!
Here are my top 10 picks for great donuts around SoCal.
Randy's Donuts
Randy's Donuts is well known for its unique donut shop. They are not only known for their mouth-watering donuts but also the giant rooftop donut that they have on top of their building! It has been featured in many movies and music videos over the years.
Randy's has four locations in Pasadena, Inglewood, Downey, and El Segundo. As the name suggests, Randy offers donuts that are unusual even by Los Angeles standards with must-try maple bars and chocolate.
But don't forget the "lemon jelly," the "chocolate twist," and the "maple iced." #nomnom
Trejo's Coffee and Donuts
Danny Trejo and donuts? Yep. the one and only Danny Trejo.
Trejo's has an exciting selection of donuts, ranging from traditional favorites to strange concoctions. Trejo's is a perfect spot for breakfast or dessert whether you're searching the greater LA area for a tasty treat or are looking to get crazy with the toppings.
Trust me on this...somehow, it just works.
Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee
With two locations in Torrance and Santa Monica, Sidecar is famous for its doughnuts. Some of them are made with seasonal flavors and "fried in small batches every hour." Flavors include vegan Huckleberry, Snickers, and a weekly, gluten-free option, and of course, many others.
Always a must-eat place for me when I'm in their neighborhood.
Fonuts
Home of the enlightened donut.
Fonuts are donuts with one crucial difference, and that is that they are not fried. They're baked and steamed instead. Have a gluten issue or on a Vegan kick? Fonuts has you covered.
With plenty to choose from, you can't miss with "Blueberry Earl Grey" or the scrumptious "Vanilla Cream Filled," to name a few.
DK's Donuts
This family-owned bakery in Santa Monica has been whipping up flavorful gourmet donuts for over 30 years and is the place for "gourmet" donuts.
Here, you'll find varieties such as the "Double Decker O-Nut," the "Oinker," and the "Pistachio Orange", you'll never get bored with their unique menu.
Another claim to fame is that they were the first donut shop in the US to offer delivery!
Primo's Donuts
Westside institution Primo's has been serving up delicious donuts since 1956; this family-run business has a loyal following of customers.
From good old-fashioned cake donuts come in a variety of flavors (cherry, maple, coconut), fancy donuts (jelly, glazed, lemon fills), to specialty donuts ("Bacon Crunch Donuts" and "Skippy" among them).
Be sure to try the famous buttermilk doughnut that's sweet, dense, slightly crisp along the edges, and finished with a rich glaze.
Bob's Coffee and Doughnuts
This old-school front at the Original Farmers Market has been the definition of tradition since opening in 1947. Bob's Coffee and Doughnuts sell over 1k donuts a day and is loved as much by tourists as by the local Angelinos.
Varieties include the "powdered sugar raspberry Bismarck," the "chocolate frosted," and the "apple fritter."
And don't forget their massive cinnamon rolls. Legendary!
Voodoo Doughnut
Voodoo Doughnut has officially arrived in Los Angeles.
If you're a regular at any of the other Voodoo's, then the flavors are instantly recognizable. From the jelly-filled Voodoo Doll, signature Bacon Maple Bar and my fav, the Double-Bubbl, they're all here—as well as an L.A.-specific creation, the Hollywood Cream, filled with Bavarian cream and topped with maple frosting.
The donut shop known for its playful fried dough creations is open at Universal City Walk.
The Donut Man
These guys are the OG donut shop in LA, and it's a must-visit for any donut lover, hands down.
Regardless of the time of year, people eagerly wait in line for Donut Man's ultra-fresh, fruit-filled donuts, which— depending on the season—could see massive chunks of peach spill out of a sliced, hole-free glazed donut. The strawberry doughnuts and tiger tails are rightfully famous.
Bottom line is The Donut Man is a place to grab an OG donut.
Blinkie's Donuts
Blinkie's Donuts is a popular donut spot in Woodland Hills since 2004. All donuts are made by hand on the premises nightly. From magically chewy raised donuts, crispy crullers, and deluxe cinnamon rolls as big as your face, Blinkies gets it right.
But suppose you're looking for something more traditional. In that case, their wide selection includes the "Strawberries'n cream" filled donut, the "Apple Fritter," and the "Bavarian Cream" filled donut.
Blinkie's for the win (just add coffee).
The Final Bite
Well, folks. There you have it. I'm sure there are many more donut hot spots to see, visit, and nomnom, but for now, these top 10 are plenty to keep you "donutting" across the City of Angels.
