The leader of the family, one who could face fear in a positive direction. The guider, the protector, yes you “Mom”, you showed me the way. For all the time we have been apart. I look to the moon we share and we are never apart.

If I could only be half the woman you were, than I know I have succeeded and done well.

You layed down rules while we were growing up, you taught us respect, compassion but most of all right verses wrong.

You cooked amazing meals, could plan dinners for a week. I embrace my cup of tea as we shared together and talked openly about the good and how to cope with the negative.

You always gave me the greatest ideas of how to keep busy with knitting, crocheting and walking, as we did together after dinner.

I get exhausted thinking of all the things you did. From raising a family, house was cleaned to perfection, you always looked so beautiful. Took time out for each of your family members. Helped dad coach hockey teams, made baton costumes and travelled with us during competitions.

That’s not all, how did you stay so organized? How did you always look so beautiful? How did you become the best mom?

A Mother To Many - Even Your Hockey Family

Goal Orientated

Since a very young age, you volunteered your time to volunteer at our local hospital. As several of the victims returned from the Second World War, they could find you sterilizing mason jars for IV bottles, doing chest exrays. The biggest was the long cotton bandages. Later in our church you taught us to crochet them to send to hospitals over seas.

You were the leader (to some the boss) of Sunday School, the choir leader. The best were the years of leading the explorers (much like girl guides). We always had many and I mean many children in our home or backyard.

You arranged for all of us to be fed well and do things that were fun.

Helping The Elderly

Even as we were going to high school and you worked at the yarn shop downtown Paris, you found time to check in on the elderly. Giving many a perm, trimming fingernails and giving pedicures. Taking homemade pies, fruitcake and shortbread. Now the eldest of your grandchildren cooks like you, her fruitcake melts in your mouth like yours.

The neighborhood would even come to visit, you would sew beautiful clothing! Wedding gowns, prom dresses even a suit for dad. You were so gifted and made your patterns from newspaper.

Born To Be A Good Mother - My Superstar

It didn’t stop there, no even after being diagnosed with cancer, you said I am not cancer. Stage four only a short time to live. It disappeared, gone. Even rechecked by the doctor.

Ten years with the love of your life “our dad”, watching new great grandchildren come into the world. The many wonderful family weddings you attended.

Yet mom when it was your time to take your journey you were so strong. You took charge. As dad held your hand and you told him he was the love of your life for you, you had a lot of things to do before it was his time. Reaching for him, you put your hand on his heart and told him,”I will always be in your heart, will never be far apart”

You taught us right from wrong, you encouraged me to keep on writing. You told your sweet great grandchildren you would always be the brightest star in the sky,”look up”, I will be watching over you.

And yet my hero, I look for you daily,I listen for you. You never prepared me for the time we would be apart. Yet now you are together with dad, my two bright shining stars.

You Raised Me Up

When one shall call the leaders, the strength of the family, mom the boss. I will always think of you as my mentor. Your words I listened to, I even wrote them down.

When I thought I should continue modeling, yet they wanted me at 90 pounds, you encouraged me to fulfil my dreams and learn, education will take you further.

I had the pleasure of standing on the mountains and I road a horse up the mountains to the top. I was raised by you my sweet mom to have confidence, to work threw the hard stuff and always communicate.

I am still working hard mom, aging with knowledge and determined to be more than I thought I could be. All because of you. Love you and I am so grateful that your my mom. Until I see you again.
