What Inspired Me to Leave it All Behind
A Mother's Guide to Her Daughter

A few months ago, I was working at an 8-5 job in an office. I would wake up, take my kids to school and hit the daily grind. I decided to join the legal industry because of all my past situations with my kids. I took a chance and some risks by just jumping in, but it paid off for the time being.
As luck would have it, my husband and I were thrown some insane curve balls. We ended up moving from our hometown to East Texas. We uprooted our kids and cutoff ties with our existing jobs, to further our kids' childhoods and see how they would learn and grow in our new environment.
I chose to not look for a "normal" job, but to learn how to be independent and launch my very own work at home career. I listened to many podcasts, watched several Ted Talks, and researched what it would take for me to supplement the income lost and what gains I could see by working from home. Throughout it all, there was one woman who inspired me to be the best me and how to weave through the hustle and achieve my financial dreams.
Throughout my life, my mom has been by my side. She was there when I took my first breath, walked for the first time, taught me how to ride a bike, spanked me when I was mouthy and most of all, loved me when I messed up. She was my rock, the person for all my go-to advice and no matter if she was wrong, I listened. She shaped me into the woman that I am today and brought me out of my shell when I was 14-years-old.
My mother taught me what is expected of me as an adult and how to carry myself. For awhile, I did not think that I was worthy of her or my family and we grew apart until I had my second child. I made several choices that she did not agree with and looking back now, I feel stupid that those happened. She and I did not see eye-to-eye in that period of my life, but her love never faulted.
She taught me how to represent myself when I didn't feel accomplished. My mother never graduated High School, but owns two businesses; she had a love of a lifetime for 29 years until becoming widowed; she is selfless, kind, and passionate about working from and out of her home and has done so for over 15 years.
My mom is not only my mom, she is the woman I aspire to be. She proved to me and my siblings that despite all of the hardships, the ups and downs, and without a single penny to her name that she could be successful and continue to grow her businesses. She did not graduate High School, had no degree in business, yet she is the smartest woman I know. My mother made it, so I can too.
I am in the process of launching a company that my friend and I will use for our retirement. Our families will be provided for and without hesitating, my mother invested and still cheers us on at the side lines, because with so many changes in our lives, she is my constant.
Here's to you Momma! I hope the next half of your life is filled with nothing but pure joy and thank you for showing me who I was, am, and will be.
