What I Wish My Grandchildren Could Have Enjoyed!
Kids Don't Realize What They Have Missed!

Over the years we have lost many things some we never look back on, but others hit us harder. As my grandchildren get older some of the things that are gone I wish they would had a chance to enjoy. Today, I want to look at a few of the items that today's children will never fully get to enjoy.
One of the lost treasures that we have lost is the Sears Christmas catalog. Through the years this catalog grew to be one of the thickest books ever sent through the mail. Why was this important? Sears would sent out their Wish Book before Christmas where everything you can imagine was in it. From toys to tools and everything in-between was inside it. Kids though was the main focus as all the new toys would be fully advertised it. Parents would sit down with their kids to get an idea what they wanted for Christmas.

Even if kids had no idea what they wanted this catalog would give them ideas that could help parents out. With most Sears stores gone and this catalog no longer issue children are the biggest losers. I can imagine these catalogs would make kids see what life use to be like.

Today's children and grandchildren are slowly losing out on this gem as well. They are still around but not like they use to be. Typing class in school was something most of us had to take. This was the tool everyone use to type a letter or make a resume. These days everything is made on a laptop or computer. The typewriter as we know has slowly vanished. I'm sure in a few years they will be gone forever.
Why was the typewriter so important to the older generation? I can remember learning how to type on one it seem like it took me forever. The thrill of making a document this way was so rewarding. This also the way books were written for so many years. I can remember when we got one that typed black and red letters. We were the happiest kids in the world showcasing what we could do with a different color. Today's kids will never be able to enjoy the fun of the typewriter and all it brought to our lives.

One of the biggest things that my grandchildren have lost is there ability to enjoy life like past generations. There was a time where kids could play outside when it got dark without any fears at all. Kidnapping was so rare back then you didn't not have to worry about it. Another big change for kids were how neighbors would look out for them when they were outside. In today's world people just do not care anymore like they did many years ago. Kids do not have any safe havens like they did many years ago.
These changes for kids means less interactions and the ability to grow friendships. It also meant kids would stay home more and there social friendships suffered. It's a shame the world that kids must live in today is so heartless and cruel.
Lastly, one of the things kids will never get to enjoy is the simple life. Today's life is so different and many things and many places just no longer exist any longer. Places as kids we traveled to no longer exist and that is a shame. All kids can do now is look at pictures and listen to stories about places they cannot visit or make there own memories. No matter what anyone tells you children and grandchildren growing up to somehow got shortchanged and that is sad.
