The Life of A Young Mom

In the life as a 23 year old young mom is life changing. In a blink of an eye, everything in my life has changed from being a kid, to a teenager, and then becoming a mother. The way I would see other moms with their kids, I thought to myself life with kids will be easy. Until I had my daughter Evelyn and it was always ups and downs, but became my greatest love of all.

The arrival of Evelyn was amazing yet terrifying. I was ready for her to be with me right away, but once I saw her I just wasn’t ready. Honestly, I was scared to hold my daughter in my arms as for how tiny she was. Until hours later when I finally held her, it was just crazy to think I gave birth to a tiny beautiful human being. As I welcomed my love into the world, she also welcomed me into motherhood.

Becoming a mom at such a young age is hard. At my age as a 23 year old, everyone expects you to be working, college, dating, traveling, or staying home with you’re parents. Now as for me I did it all well expect traveling, but I’m now married to my husband Daniel of 9 months and dating of 4 years. I’m glad I’m married to my best friend because he gave me another best friend which is my daughter.

Now as a young mom, my life has been crazy. I’ll always have my good and bad days with Evelyn. I quickly became a mom on my own, even though I had help from my family and my husband’s family, but I decided to do this on my own. The reason I did was because every young girl always run to their mothers asking for help, as this time I wanted to learn what’s it like as you’re instincts will kick in to know exactly what to do and not to do for you’re child.

Being a mother is not about what you gave up to have a child, but what you have gained from having one. And what I gained from my daughter honestly is learning how to love her & about myself. I’m glad I got this opportunity to being Evelyn’s mother because now it lets me understand what it is to being a mom even with mistakes made in the way but, that’s what being a mom is about. I’ll always love my baby and because of her. I’m thankful for my husband giving us the best gift anyone could ever ask for in life.
