Women become single moms for many different reasons. Being a single mother is tough. It can be really tough! I am a single mother. I make it look easy...Many struggles plague single moms. The main struggle is usually finances. The single mom is the primary provider for her children. There is only one paycheck in the house. That single paycheck has to cover shelter, utilities, food and the miscellaneous items for her children. She has to cook and clean. She has to work, spend time with her children all while eating healthy and staying slim. Whew chile!

Unmarried in your late 20's
How do you make a relationship work after COVID-19? It feels like if you weren't already dating someone at the beginning of the pandemic, you're S.O.L. when it comes to your dating life. For people like me it's especially difficult. Growing up in what some would call a "broken home," because my parents were divorced. The only positive side to relationships I saw was in my grandparents and aunts and uncles. Looking back I realize they probably had their issues and arguments that got nasty but that wasn't the focus during family get-togethers. Being a woman is still hard in the 21st century. I didn't think I'd let sexist comments about women keeping their mouths shut would really bother me, yet here I am, a year after the pandemic finally staying home.

Diary of a Single Mom
It's hard to find "the one". You think you found him (or her) until you realize they just played a really good game. I guess it was partially my fault. I rushed into a new relationship after the last one failed. And when I say failed, I mean royally F'd up. So when this cute guy came into my life spouting all the right things, of course I had to. Right? It's a classic "if I had known then what I know now" situation. However, I like to remind myself, if I had never fallen for his facade I would never have met my true loves.

Unwanted downtime
So, as most of the people I know, they know that I'm practically in a dedicated/long-term relationship with my job. Full-time hours, decent pay (despite being majorly underpaid and under-appreciated), loving schedule, crappy benefits, but just enough downtime to where I don't feel like I'm not spending every second at work instead of with my son and the pups. I've missed out on countless PTA meetings, school functions and fairs and fundraisers, helping out with homework, putting my son to bed, even going as far as missing out on teaching my son to ride a bike or how to fish (properly.)

Single Parenting for Dummies
Being a mom isn't easy, let alone being a single mom. Don't get me wrong, I have lots of help from my lovely fiancé, but I am still struggling. I pay 550 on my mortgage, 120-240 a month in electricity depending on the month, 150 a week in daycare costs (4kids), 20 for a phone, 120 a month for internet and the list goes on. I make roughly 1000-1100 a month after taxes. No, my bills and my finances don't add up, but somehow it works and I learned not to question it.
