What are some of the things that come to mind when you think of an infant? Is it their pink and tiny faces, breath, smooth bottoms, minuscule toes, toothless smiles, and their cutest infant coos? What about: how it felt seeing your baby for the first time? Did you think about the way that they first cried? What about the feeling that you felt in your heart when your baby smiled at you for the first time? Or when they looked directly into your eyes? The late night cuddles? The closeness of when they nursed? The skin-to-skin contact? Their smell? Those are some of the topics that are always mentioned when discussing motherhood; am I also right?

I had ideas about what it means to be a mother. I knew that this was going to be my very own precious baby that I would love and would get to cuddle, play with, teach and watch grow. I knew being a mom wouldn't be easy. I knew that it was going to be a lot of cleaning and sleepless nights and few breaks to relax. I knew this would mean less of a social life, but I was fine with that. I was so excited. I read as many books and articles and emails on pregnancy, motherhood, and babies as I could possibly absorb. I wanted to be prepared. But nothing I read could have prepared me for how hard it is to be a stay-at-home mom.

Toxic Mother and/or Anxiety?
In September, I will be in my 2nd and final year of college before I head off to university. That means that this summer, I've gotta be looking around at where I want to spend the next 4+ years of my life. If you search mother in the dictionary, what does it say? “A woman in relation to her child or children.” Although that is true, a mother is way more than that. A mother is someone who loves you unconditionally. She will put you ahead of herself without hesitation or questions asked. A mother takes care of her children and provides for them.
