#SingleMomChronicles: Child rearing/ Discipline
Parenting does not come with an instruction manual. I mean, there are a lot of books on parenting, but it's usually a bunch of generalizations and blanket statements in. As a mother, you just do the best you can and hope you did a great job. Now, as a single mother, I have in the past and still currently overcompensate for the absence of my daughter's fathers. I often over-indulge them. Whatever they wanted, I got it. If I couldn't afford it at that moment, I would sacrifice things for myself. Naturally, as a result, my children developed an aversion to the word "no". Yes, I sugar coated it. I don't really like to use the word "spoiled".

Silent In Life
Once upon a time, there was a man named Thomas. He lived in a small town in the countryside, surrounded by hills and lush greenery. Thomas was a silent man, not because he couldn't speak, but because he chose not to. He had gone through some tough times in his life, and he had learned that words could be more harmful than helpful.

Gas Lighting: “You’re Just Being Dramatic!”
Introduction I've heard many times while talking with people, “They just blew me off and made it about themselves!”. Whether this particular phrase or a variation of the sort, no one likes to feel pushed aside, ignored or misunderstood. These feelings can lead to a lifetime of self doubt, self criticism and lack of emotional awareness. But how does it happen? Does the person doing it know they are making me feel this way? How do I know if I really am overreacting? Well I’m here to tell you that all these spiraling thoughts are completely NORMAL! It’s common to feel this way when you feel like you’ve interpreted someone’s intentions to be manipulative or selfish. It’s easy to say to these people “you just need to work on communication..” and then leave that person with a million more doubts and questions. I find the best solution is a simple step by step approach that can be done quickly within a conversation to avoid misunderstanding and hurt feelings in a relationship.

The Inner Critic, or how your Parents' Critical Voice turns into your Voice. The solutions to find our Balance
We all know what it's like to be criticized: harsh, accusatory or unappreciative words can make us angry, scared, saddened or hurt. These emotional experiences can cause us to have different defensive reactions in front of the person who criticizes us. We can avoid it, argue with it, or feel overwhelmed by helplessness or hopelessness. These things are easy to identify coming from an interlocutor, but when he is invisible, hidden and even represents a part of us, things are more complicated. What do we do with the inner critic?
