Title:the end of the night
The moon hung in the night sky, its brilliance casting an ethereal glow that illuminated a world shrouded in darkness. It was a night where secrets thrived, and I knew where you might be—where the inhabitants drew the blinds, shutting out the outside world, and where the midnight oil burned incessantly, pushing the boundaries of time until the first light of dawn.

I Can't Let January Go By
Darlene, my oldest cousin, was born on January 1, 1944. Being a decade older than myself, she always seemed smarter and wiser than me. She tolerated me about half the time, another fourth of the time she truly spent caring for me in her own special ways, and the last fourth of time spent in her presence, she could be downright mean and nasty. I was the oldest of my own siblings, so having her in my life seemed to teach me some of her bully traits, so that I could pass them over to my younger brother and sister when necessary. But it also taught me not to be quite as harsh in the unleashing.

2023:. Top Story - January 2024.
I know I say this every year, but 2023 was a year full of a lot of change for my little family. I started the year off barely working one job and being a full time mom. Ben was working two jobs, and we were living in a pretty awful place. We had a still pretty new baby, and we were still mostly struggling through our days, trying to figure out how to be parents.

The Night Before Christymas
My sister’s say that in their 55 years of marriage they can only remember our parents ever having ONE argument. They heard my father shouting “BUT YOU CAN’T BE PREGNANT!!!” That was me. I am an accident. I’m the third of three girls and the baby by 10 years. My mother was 38 and thought she was done with childbirth. Turns out that my parents had been using the “Rhythm Method” successfully without even so much as a scare for 10 years until me. My parents were both from the same small town in Southern Illinois…that still boasts a population of about 6500 residents give or take. Theirs is quite a love story…the boy from the wrong side of the tracks romances the daughter of one of the most prominent men in town with WWII getting in the way. But that's another story for another time. This is my story.
