How My Mother Guided Me To Write My Life's Story
In the beginning In the beginning, I was nothing, the mere possibility of something. In the beginning, I was just a soul in the Great Before, waiting in a space with no time for the universe to find me a match - a mother to birth me into being. That time before time was the primordial soup where the most important ingredients were mixed, the traits that would form my DNA. With an all-knowing hand, everything was put in place, for me to discover when time would start its flow. At last, the connection was found, but not all conditions were met, so I waited for a little longer until finally, it was time to become.

She is.
There’s different kinds of teachers in the world. The strict ones that focus on what you “can’t” or “shouldn’t” do. The “simple” ones that dumb things down so much, you feel like you’re stuck in preschool hearing them emphatically repeat phrases over and over as if the resound is understood differently. Then, you have the “taught” teachers, who try hard to explain what they’ve been taught, but can’t quite put it into words you can understand. I could go on about types of teachers I’ve experienced in my lifetime, but that’s not really the point. The point is—this one teacher—the “model” teacher; let’s focus on her for a moment. This teacher wears her content. She is a walking three dimensional figure of the subject area she intends to educate her pupils in. This teacher IS the model. She is—the thesis. She is—my mother, and it’s not so much what she teaches me, rather how she teaches it, that really illuminates the lessons I hold dear. She just lives and shapes me with the lessons she breathes. Here are the top 5 life lessons she breathes into me.

Rhapsody and Indifference: Sexuality and Families
D.H. Lawrence is a writer who seems both known and unknown. Most of us who took literature in college or who were assigned The Rocking-Horse Winner in high school, know of Lady Chatterley’s Lover and its scandalous history. I read it at fifteen and have read at least eight years in between since then. My attitude towards the “banned” sex in the novel changes every time I read it. During my last read, it seemed less rapturous and the sex seemed odd; that is likely due to time and experience and the realization that the novel speaks more to class than sex. I remember being on a date years ago with an English man and he said the most shocking thing about the book was that the Lady of the Manor “stooped” a “yardsman”. Some people (and professors are people) abhor him and yet I am always engrossed by his books, poems, and short stories. He is profoundly good at describing the internal life of a person. My latest read is “Rainbow”. It has little dialogue, but it is sumptuous in its descriptions of the characters' inner thoughts and desires. It is about family and the steel thread of sexuality that supports each generation.

What We Understand
On a global, macro level, we understand the concept of trying to remain healthy. We understand that healthy diets and exercise help to keep arteries from clogging, blood pressure stable, and help us to feel good in general. Not eating too many burgers, drinking plenty of water, drinking alcohol in moderation, and keeping regular sleeping habits help as well. We all know the good stuff to do, and we are, generally, pretty successful.

Enjoy your life today……COVID-19
Life is beautiful, life is uncertain, life is an adventure, life is a gift. So be a person who enjoys every day, every minute, or every second. Why I'm saying this because in the past year I learned something is that your family & friends are so important to you & Every second is so meaningful with them. You need to focus and remember that the day you are currently living will only happen once in your entire life, so you need to make the most of it. It's all about mindset, how you focus on life. We people always assume that we need to make extreme changes to our life, habits, routines, and bank balance to be happy and to enjoy our everyday life. But trust me that is not the case. Usually, we already have everything to enjoy your present day. It's just up to you what's important for you today.

The life I want and don't want
Because of my daughter's school, I returned to live in the old city, which is also some days. And because the family home has been relatively old, so the people living in the courtyard are all kinds of people, mostly renters and older people. Every day in the city of the old city shuttle in and out, there is so a person, caught my attention.

Getaway
This year for Mother's Day I decided that I just wanted to get away from the stress that I deal with every day. I am spending a week at my son's trailer in the woods. I had no deal what to pack for the trip. See I live in Florida. You may think this is a problem.

And I, Like Her
The cool air of the pre-sunrise morning. I’d forgotten what it was like, how sweet and crisp it felt. I’ve been up with the sunrise here in Houston, but never outside for it. This air is where I truly thrive, the calm before the rest of the world wakes up. As cool as it is, this is still May in Houston, TX. I can smell the humidity and coming heat.

To the Firefighters....
During everything that has been done to me, when two years ago I wanted to do employment cases for police, EMS, and firefighters and public employees..which somehow the firefighters have always managed to help me hold on to that dream by being the only ones who haven't made it harder while they couldn't do anything to but watch law enforcement and EMS do anything but protect and serve..You still remain my heroes. I don't blame every police officer, every EMT..you just don't victimize one of your own. There is not a firefighter I can say has ever done that.
