Holiday
Grandma Scrooge
Normally, the holidays bring me joy. This year, I struggle with finding happiness and joy. I have many reasons for being all humbug this year yet, I know I have to pull out of this dark and gloomy attitude. I wish I weren't so grumpy but I just can't seem to shake this gloom reverberating from my soul. I just haven't found my happiness yet this year.

Native Americans At Thanksgiving
When I placed a turkey message on my page on Facebook and got no feedback from family or Native American friends, I knew what that was about. A friend who is very in tune with the Native American culture commented about not "Celebrating Taking Day."

Vacation in Mesopotamia
We don’t get glittering prizes down our way. We get grisly ones awarded by nightmarish quiz shows. However, instead of open heart surgery without anaesthetic on the meat counter of our local supermarket, I get an evening with my brother, his wife and their bratty kid. The former, if successful, need be done only once. The latter, unfortunately, comes every December 28.

Not Enough Chairs at the Table
There weren't enough chairs at the table this Thanksgiving, but I don't think anyone else noticed it. I mean, there were chairs for everyone that was expected: my mother-in-law of course, since it was her house! My sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, me and my husband. We were all seated around the expanded wooden table in an assortment of dining, office, and folding chairs.

Thanksgiving Traditions
I remember going to my grandparents’ home every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas while growing up. My mom’s family was huge with her and five brothers, then all the kids. My grandmother with the help of my mom and the other wives made a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. We always had a huge turkey, stuffing, casserole dishes, potatoes, veggies, and desserts. This was one time during the year that I got to see most of my cousins, at least while we were all young.
