CHAPTER 1

“Tommy get down here right now!” said Tommy’s mom shouted from the top of her lungs.

Tommy hears her and runs down the stairs from his room. "Breakfast time!”

She kind of sang it as she handed Tommy some bacon and waffles.

Tommy had a disease. Tommy was born with a disease that slows down the way he grows. So that meant that Tommy was really short and short enough that people mistake his age. Tommy is ten years old but some people think he is five years old. Anyway, Tommy put the plate of food on the kitchen table(which is taller than himself). Then, Tommy pushed the red button on the chair that he was going to in and the chair lowered down. Tommy slid in the chair and then pushed the red button again and the chair elevated up to its normal height. This might seem weird to you but Tommy has been doing That for most of his life, and if you read more of this book you will find out how Tommy has a lot more stuff like that.

CHAPTER 2

“Ugh!” there were heavy footsteps coming from upstairs.

“Here comes your sister.” mom said.

Tommy’s sister is 14 years old and is the most annoying sister in the world. (At least in Tommy’s opinion)And her name is Emma.

Emma came down the stairs as she groaned and sits in a chair at the table. “Good morning.” mom said trying to lighten up the mood.

“How is school.” mom said as she handed Emma her breakfast.

“Ugh.” Emma groaned again and started to eat her food.

It was silent like at school when everybody is super quiet because one of the kids get yelled at by a teacher.

While that was happening, let’s talk about Tommy. Tommy is a black boy that loves to play soccer. Tommy is kind, honest, and helpful to those in need. Tommy got good grades in school too. But it was just one thing that Tommy doesn't like about life: He does not have any Friends! Oh! Something is happening back in the story SO…

LET’S GO!

CHAPTER 3

“Mom I hate my life!” After Emma said that she jumped out of her seat and groaned again and stomped up the stairs to her room.

Mom didn’t say a word,. And neither did Tommy. “Wow, did not see that coming,” Tommy said in his head.

Tommy didn’t really care that Emma hated her life he just didn’t know why. Like what can be so bad about having a million friends, being class president, and being the favorite of every single teacher in her school. “Mom, I’m done with my food,” Tommy said softly.

His mom grabbed the plate from the table and Tommy push the red button again and the chair went back down. Tommy jumped out of the chair and push the button one more time and the chair went back up.

Tommy went upstairs to his room. Tommy's house is medium in size. Since Tommy has a disease a lot of special needs. Tommy’s house is full of those needs. In New York, it is a lot more different than Detroit. When Tommy was in Detroit they lived in an apartment that only had two bedrooms. But Tommy likes New York way more than Detroit because he gets his own room and has more special needs that his mom and dad couldn’t afford to get when they were in Detroit.

Tommy said as he closed the door to his room, and hoped upon his big bed. Tommy’s eyes were wide open as he laid on the bed on his back. Tommy was thinking about what it would be like to be 14 years old, would HE hate his life too! Well, Tommy didn't want to worry about that now because he is not even close to that age and he didn't want to be like his sister.

Chapter 4

The next day, Tommy went to the park with Emma. The only reason Tommy was with Emma was that Emma wanted to go hang out with some of her friends. And her friends wanted to hang at the park. Of course, Tommy didn't want to go but their mom insisted that Emma should take Tommy with her as right around the corner. It was the first summer Tommy spent in New York and Tommy wasn't enjoying it as much as he was supposed to. Emma said hated her life but from what Tommy saw was that she was happy. She had a lot of friends and she seems to have fun with them so, what's wrong with her life? Because Tommy’s life was really bad: He had a disease, no friends, and is really short. Emma thinks her life's wires! That’s crazy! Whelp, let’s see what happens next in his great story!

Chapter 5

When Emma and Tommy got to the park Emma spotted her friends. “ Ok, stay here and don't bother me or in bars me, Ok?” Emma said getting ready to go.

Tommy nodded his head and rolled his eyes at Emma. Emma squinted her eyes and then walked away to her friends. Tommy didn't feel like playing in the play grounded and besides he had no one to play with anyway. There were a bunch of kids on the playground but Tommy thought none of the kids would be willing to play with him. Everyone had someone else to play with or talk with. “Sigh.” Tommy sighed as he looked all around the park.

But then Tommy spotted a kid that looked about the same age as him and he was sitting alone on the bench. Tommy didn't have anything else to do so he walked over there to see what was wrong.

“ Hi,” Tommy said softly.

“ Hi.” The boy said in a wimpy voice.

“ What's wrong?” Tommy asked.

The boy shook his head no. “ What's your name?” Tommy asked

“My name is Lewis and please don't laugh at me because I’m short.” , “ I have a disease and it makes me short so please don't laugh.” Lewis said with his head down to the point where he couldn't even see Tommy.

“I’m sitting here because I’m scared of if I ask someone to play with me they will laugh and say no,” Lewis said.

Tommy was in shock he had never met anyone that had the same disease as him. “ Well this might surprise you but I’m pretty sure that you have the same disease as me.”

Lewis raised his head very slowly and he realized that Tommy was short too. “How old are you,” Lewis said still in shock.

“I'm 10 but people usually think I am 5 years old,” Tommy said.

Then Lewis slowly stood up STILL in shock! “Do you want to be friends? ”Lewis said while he crossed his fingers that he would get his first friend. Tommy was so excited that he would get his first friend that he didn't have anything to say but his words finally came out. “ Yes!” Tommy said trying to stay cool.

Lewis had a big smile on his face. Tommy did too. “Do you want to come over to my house?” Tommy asked.

“Sure!” Lewis said very excitedly.

Now Tommy had a friend.

And soon they became BEST FRIENDS!
