Alice and Her Gift And Other Short Stories

Alice's graduation
Alice lived in Paris, France, with her parents. She attended a school called " L'ecole de Roses." Mrs. Richard, Alice's teacher explained perspective to the students and showed them pictures of buildings that were made in perspective. She gave an assignment in which the kids were to draw a street with buildings and houses in perspective. The person who had the best picture would receive a gift.
The girls thought about how they would start the picture. When class ended and there was a break, Alice explained how to draw something in perspective to Isabelle, one of her classmates because she did not understand it.
Alice put a lot of effort into her picture. She used a ruler to draw the lines for the building that she was drawing. She took only two days to complete her assignment.
It took a couple of days to decide who did the best drawing and would receive the gift.
Mrs. Dupont, the director of the school, and Isabelle's mother looked at all the drawings that all the students did. She found that the best pictures were Alice's and Isabelle's. Now the question was which picture should be chosen to win. Only one winner could receive the gift. Mrs. Dupont chose Alice's picture because it had nice colors and the best representation of perspective.
When the grades of everybody's pictures were posted on the board, Alice saw that she had the best grade. The teacher told her that she was the winner and would be given the gift at graduation the next week. Isabelle was really upset and did not want to watch the ceremony, but her mother insisted that she attend.
Isabelle looked for a way to interrupt the graduation so that nothing would occur. In her mother's purse, she found her classmate's drawings, including Alice's. She took Alice's picture and hid it in a drawer in her room.
When the graduation party came, teachers posted all the drawings of pupils who deserved gifts for the excellent work they had done. Mrs. Dupont was looking for Alice's picture, but it had disappeared. She looked for it many times but did not find it.
The day of the party, Alice went to Isabelle's house so they could go to school for the graduation party. Isabelle was still taking a shower, so Alice waited for her in her room. She saw that a drawer was opened slightly and, curious, decided to look at the books that were in there. She saw a drawing paper in there, so she looked at it and discovered that it was her picture. She understood what Isabelle was trying to do.
She put her drawing under her arm, left Isabelle's room and ran to school.
The mayor of the city had been invited for the graduation party too and really liked Alice's picture. He gave her the gift after her speech. Isabelle who was present at the graduation party, was surprised to see that the picture was posted on board and that Alice received her gift. She was upset and did not know how the picture that was in her drawer could have been posted on the board. She frowned and ran off to hide somewhere.
THe WOLF
An elderly woman lived with two granddaughters, Marie and Laura, in a small town. Marie was oldest and had brown hair. Laura, the younger, had blond hair. Marie was nine years old, and Laura was eight. Jeanette, their grandmother, had adopted them because their parents had died. Each night before going to be, she warned then not to cross the bridge and also told them about a wolf that had eaten some little kids in the past.
Marie and Laura were disobedient. They were naughty. They took food from the fridge when their grandmother was sleeping. They stole fruit that belonged to their grandmother's friend's tree. Jeanette knew that her granddaughters were really difficult, but she trusted them not to cross the bridge.
One special day, it was time for the Easter feast. Jeanette baked a chocolate cake and chocolate chip-cookies for the parties that each of her granddaughters classes were having. The girls took the treats to school and everybody had fun!
The party was long, and when it ended, the pupils went back home. Marie and Laura started to walk home when suddenly it started to rain. It was a tornado! They went into a cave to wait for the storm to pass.
Jeanette was worried about her granddaughters. She understood that they were late because of the rain. When it stopped, they continued home. Jeanette saw them and hugged them. She opened the door for both of them and let them sit next to the fire warm up.
The rain fell, and everybody went to bed after dinner.
Before sleeping, Jeanette told them the story of the wolf that lived under the bridge not far away from there. She told them this story all the time to make sure they would be obedient.
It was Sunday, Jeanette and her granddaughters went to church after breakfast and then came back home. Sunday was a good day. Jeannette cooked some mashed potatoes with gravy and beef steak. Sunday afternoon, she had devotion with her granddaughters. She read a chapter from the Bible and helped them get their homework done and study fo their exams.
On Monday, Marie and Laura went back to school. Their teacher gave them in-class math homework to do. After math, they had history class.
The magic mirror
Once upon a time, a single man who had adopted two daughters lived in a big house in the city of Seymour, Tennessee. Tennessee is in the United States. The man gave to his two daughters one small mirror. Actually, this mirror was not like the mirror you see in real life. It was a magic mirror.
If their adopted father asked one of his daughters a question and she lied, the mirror would make something happened to their room.
Catherine, who was the eldest of the sisters at eight, liked to lie a lot. Every morning, she skipped taking her shower and only brushed her teeth. Her wardrobe started to stink because of not taking a shower. The housemaid could not do anything about the smell. The second daughter and baby, Charlotte, who was seven, liked to fight a lot at school and then lie about it afterward. Because of her lies, her room was full of water.
The girl's father was a rich man who had adopted them because he knew the secret of their real parents. Their real mother was a fairy, and their real father had also powers. But both of them died, asking the rich man to adopt their two daughters to keep the mirror a secret.
None of the housemaids were helpful to stop the two daughters' bad behavior. Their father hired a new housemaid and gave her instructions. He wanted to know if Catherine took her shower regularly. This new housemaid was very intelligent; she came to Catherine each morning to check that she was taking her shower. And finally, Charlotte was deprived of dessert if she was caught fighting. Since, Charlotte was greedy, she tried her best not to fight. Since the new housemaid came, Catherine's wardrobe was tidy and smelled good, and no water was flowing in Charlotte's room. The housemaid worked with all the other maids, but she was actually a housekeeper for the children. She earned a better salary than the other housemaids, and she was always doing her job correctly.
The rich man wanted his two adopted daughters to be good daughters and to grow to be mature.
When they earned to be honest and respectful, he would tell them the truth about their real parents.
Once upon a time in a castle there lived a king and a queen. They dreamed of having a little girl.
The day the queen had her little girl, she named her Golden Hair.
Her daughter was beautiful just like her.
The king still loved his wife and had no idea that bad luck would come. One day the queen fell very ill. She had a fever, and she felt uncomfortable. She was very pale. The doctor came to the castle to see what was wrong with the queen. He had prescribed different types of medicine for her, but she died.
Golden Hair was a little girl at the moment.
Years passed and she grew.
She was eighteen years old and she was as beautiful as her mother.
She was a lovely young woman.
The king, who called himself celibate, found her as beautiful as his wife.
He wanted to get married for whatever cost.
One day, Golden Hair was married.
One day, Golden Hair was awake. She was already dressed and was brushing her hair.
She was looking at herself in the mirror. The maid knocked on the door and entered when Golden Hair ordered her to enter. She said to him: "Princess the King your father absolutely wants to talk to you when you are ready."
"Okay Golden Hair replied." I'll come in a few moments. The maid knocked on the door, and entered when Golden Hair ordered her to enter.
She said to him: "Princess the King your father absolutely wants to talk to you when you are ready."
"Okay," Golden Hair replied. "I'll be back in a few moments. The maid left and closed the door.
She went to the living room and saw her father sitting on the chair having breakfast.
She joined him and said:
"Father, do you want to talk to me."
"What do you want to tell me?"
Golden Hair had breakfast. On the table were croissants, pain au chocolates, and bread with spreadable butter and jam.
After the king and the princess had finished having their breakfast, the king asked the servants and the maids to return to the kitchen and to leave them alone in the dining room.
This is what the king said to Golden Hair. "Daughter I see you are a woman now." " I want to marry you." "I want you to be my wife."
Golden Hair was afraid.
She reflected and said to her father: Since you want to marry me, I would like you to give me before you marry me the skin of a bear with five hundred thousand pearls on it before you marry me. "
He decided to do what his daughter asked him to do. He knew it was not an easy task to do and decided to do it.
He asked one of his keepers to capture a bear and bring back its skin and they will see how to decorate it with five hundred thousand pearls.
The keeper he had sent was afraid to do what the king asked him because he didn't want to find bearskin easily for the king to marry his own daughter.
The king had said to him before leaving: "You will die if you do not send me the skin of the bear." The keeper fled the farthest from the castle so that he would not be seen again. It would be a bad thing for the king to marry his own daughter since she was beautiful.
The king did not know what to do. He knew he would never marry his own daughter if the man didn't bring him back the bear skin. So he said to himself: "The man has disappeared." I'll think of something else. "
This is the king's second idea. He put an ad on the wall of the castle which read: "The king is looking for a person who can bring him a bearskin."
"The person who manages to find her will be rewarded." She will have 800,000 pieces
gold.
Everyone who had tried to please the king by trying to find a five hundred thousand pearl bear skin had failed and vanished.
He tried again to find another hunter to find a five hundred thousand pearl bear skin. Charles one of the best known hunters who is in the forest had come to the castle and wanted to fill the task that the king had asked him. He had said to him: "King, I would do my best to find you that bearskin.
The hunter went into the forest and saw a bear that was in a mysterious cave. He attacked her and brought her skin to other hunters who helped him cut it up and decorate it with pearls. The hunter overheard one of the women who was a castle servant to one of her friends who worked with her: "Poor princess the hunter has found the bearskin and the king is going to marry her." The hunter knows the princess well and knows that she has a beauty superior to all the women who are in the castle. So he decided not to bring back the bear skin with the five hundred thousand pearls on it. He said to the other hunters, "Do not adorn the bearskin." Leave it as it is and give it to me. I don't need her anymore. The other hunters left and the hunter decided to run away with the bearskin and then throw it into a hole to never see it again.
After getting rid of the bearskin, the night when the princess was in her room the hunter secretly went to the princess's room entering through the window while climbing with the rope up. This one was afraid. She wanted to scream and he said to her, "I'll tell you something dear princess." Your father wants to marry you. "I'm not lying." Don't be afraid. ”It's for your safety. He asked me to look for a bearskin of which I am showing you proof and to put five hundred thousand pearls in it, but I did not. help you escape and take refuge in the cave where the bear was previously to avoid the marriage your father wanted. This is okay dear sir. My father wanted to marry me. I believe you.
In this cave no one will see you, only me and other people who have never seen you before who live in this cave can see you. But I can't tell you if there will be people in this cave, says the Golden Hair fairy.
Golden Hair trusted the fairy.
After this conversation, the fairy disappeared.
