How are you, Mom?

Wherever you are, can you see me from there? Do you know Maa? It seems you can still see me—you are still around me. Your unconditional love is wrapped around me yet. Mom, my lovely mom, days are passing on their own. How long has it been since I couldn't talk with you sitting by you? Mom, you are the best teacher for me, my guide, and my best friend forever. All words are less to express my love for you. You taught me how to love unconditionally.

When I was your little princess, you never left me alone anywhere. Whatever you were doing, one of your eyes was always glued to me. Those big loving eyes — even though I was occasionally scared of them. They could control me with their movement only from a far distance.

You instilled discipline in me. You were rather severe about it. You never like to do anything carelessly. If I did anything wrong at any point, you always encouraged me to do that properly. You never forced me, you always pushed me to do my best.

Can you remember Maa I did stupid things sometimes- you would have been mad at me for that. Not because I spoilt anything but because my friends made me laugh at me. Someone laughing at me was more than you could handle. You felt offended by my insult and got hurt. I always asked you - how you can love me that much Mom? How could you read my mind like an open book? I didn't need to say anything explicitly. If I were in trouble you could understand before I told you that. You could read my face.

No one around now can read my mind, my feelings like you. You were like my bank vault, I could share everything with you. I didn't feel well until tell you everything after returning home. My school friends got mad at me for that sometimes. I couldn't make them understand that you are my best friend. There's no problem, if you know our secrets.

Once my school friends planned to visit our house. They reached in front of our home and decided to prank you. They kept me held aside outside the door. When you opened the door they asked you where I was! They pretended I wasn't in school. I was watching you from their back. Hearing of that you just became pale all at once! I never could forget that - your pale face! Forgive me for that maa.

You were the best problem solver for me, whether it was Math problems, Economics, or workplace problem-you always had a solution for me. You know Mom, I can solve all my problems by myself now.

You didn't like to go outside much. One day I forced you to spend the day with me- a hang out with you and me all day. We walked together, we wandered around by rickshaw here and there. Then we had our lunch in a restaurant. That was famous for typical Bengali foods like rice, dal, fish, and mashed vegetables. You didn't want to come out first but I saw in your eyes that you enjoyed that day. I always loved to see your smiley face. I couldn't even think of a world to stay, in where you are not with me. But it happened.

It was always heaven around you. While I felt shattered by anything, I would have kept hugging you. The fragrance of your body made my mind stress-free and relaxed soon. Your soft voice and unwavering support made me strong again in my ups and downs.

I always see you - a fighter. I didn't see you exhausted any time. All the time you keep doing something innovative other than your everyday work- cooking experiments, sewing, dress designing, gardening, reading, and whatnot. You couldn't be sitting idle. You always have to do something new.

Any new challenge came to you, you just told- Let's do it. No problem, everything will be fine soon. Even, that night - when the doctor announced that you were suffering from Carcinoma. Can you remember Maa, I couldn't stop my tears. Then you asked me what happened. I couldn't hide it from you. I told you whatever the doctor said. Even on that night, you console me! Nothing will happen, you will recover soon.

Mom....my sweet Mom, you will be so happy to hear that I am in your place now. I have a little cute Bunny now. You told me that whenever I would be a mother, I would realize the unseen bondage between mom and child then, how you went through all the thick and thin. I can connect that now, maa. He says he is my best friend forever, just like us, Mom.

It's better Mom- finally, you are at your destination. You couldn't have endured that if you lost me like Liza. Nobody can't bear that. You are not with me now. But I have my little Bunny with me at least, my best friend forever. Another new story began.

Sleep in peace Mom, which was so unpleasant to you once.

Love you always, Maa.......
