being a father for more than 20 years starting early on, it doesn’t get any better than this,having a grandchild that adores you.

Layla Grace Tedstone was born on 31st October 2019 weighing 6lb 14.5.

They say kids change you they say it makes you grow up and mature but I believe you do this on your own not just when you have kids.

One thing that does change you is having a grandchild, let me tell you this I enjoyed being a parent to our four children over the course of them growing up and moving on (2 left home) and even still, now. At 39 I feel I have progressed as an adult and a father and now as a grandfather.

Having a grandchild, is amazing it is beautiful, the love you give and receive from this little madam who has just had her second birthday and a little tea party at Nannies and grandads house.

The love is amazing to say the least but it’s also different from your own children’s love, you know deep down they are not your child but the love is so so strong like they are ye get me ?

She smiles and laughs constantly, runs around and stomps and bounces and jumps up and down to music like I’m a gummy bear and five little ducks and shows on Netflix like cartoon mr bean and Paddington and it’s the Lorax, and when she’s happy and having fun with her uncle Charlie ( my 12 yr old son ).

She has her tantrums and points her finger saying no lol, my heart melts.

She loves her snacks all day long as well as her meals through the day which her amazing mummy (our daughter) prepares and cooks for her in there own home. We get to see little miss around 3 to 4 times a week and on FaceTime quite frequently during the week just before bedtime for a little chat, her speech is so impressive and she is learning and saying more and more every day like : grandad nanny mummy she can say Charlie and Emma and has a whole vocabulary of new words she is learning all the time.

Having a grandchild really does change the way you behave and think and react on a daily basis, but not in a bad way, in a way that shows the kind of person you really are inside and out and how accepting you are towards new challenges and new ways of life. Don’t get me wrong, my children, I love so so much even after they have flown the nest, but still close to home, we are always here for them.

I wouldn’t say we love our grandchild more than our kids it’s all the same love on a daily basis year after year, only this time round yeah kinda let her get away with a little more than our kids ever did lmao…..
