My father is a man of many story's and adventures that he cherish more and more with every new listener.
Lets start with one of my favorite's that he's told me about his navy days. First you must know that my dad joined the navy with hopes to gain freedom from his sheltered life with his mother, my grandma. Of course, the navy isn't the place you go for freedom of self.
One of the men above him gave him direct orders to not open a particular door when my dad asked about it. My dad obeyed but he still went to ask more questions from one person to the next. My dad, I'd have to say, is a five foot six slim guy yet he is very mighty. Considered to have the strength of three men within himself.
On one patrol of a night my dad went to inspect said door and make his own evaluation. Looking around he grabbed the handle and deiced to open the door. He regretted his decision right away, literally, instantaneously. He was pushed down the hall by a wave of water and he struggled to quickly make it back to the door. Water coved the floor as he attempts to run and close the door as his soaked clothes held him back some.
My father told me he was never found out and he cleaned up the mess. But, oh how I wish, I could ask him to tell me the story one more time just so I can remember more details.
This past April,19, of 2022, I've lost my father in the the saddest way I could've ever imagined. Due to his passing, I've decided to become the writer he knows I can be. I will do it because he believes in me so much. Due to that I refuse to let the strongest man I know down by being weak to obstacles or procrastination.
My father is the man that created my future by showing me that I can become absolutely anything. He always told me, "I've never seen anybody come up with these ideas, if you want to become a writer, then take it seriously". To that, I say, "Dad, if you can hear my keyboard as I type these words, I thank you for being here as long as you were able. I may never forgive you, but please do forgive yourself. Because you are the definition of a father."
To me, a father is a man willing to teach his children right from wrong. Teaches his children how to be strong in the presence of any obstacle they face. He teaches and teaches and until one day the child can teach him something new. My father means more to me than the sun the feeds the earth that I live upon. My father means more to me than the food that I eat everyday and every night. My father, is a man worthy of a kingdom or three. My father, like any other, is half of me like fathers are half of any of their children.
Fathers day might be a quite one for me this year, but my steps that I'm taking to become a known author are loud. Dad, one day I will see you again and I promise that I will bring you this one thing. When I see you next, I will bring with me your crown that I was forced to take. I may be strong enough to be there for my brothers, but you will always be king. Till we meet again.
