We Are Who We Choose
Often in life, we look at someone and say, “I’m not going to end up like that person.” Or “I’m going to do better than what I lived.” And saying that might be hard for other people to hear because we can’t undo the past, only make the future better. And those of us who have small children LITERALLY hold the future of the hands. When they fall down and reach for your hand, it is like a silent whisper asking for help. The voice of an angel that is calling out to you and asking your undivided attention. And as a mom of two, giving that attention isn't always easy.

I Found Myself When I Quit My Job
I would never personally suggest women return to a 1950s lifestyle. I can only imagine the horde of women marching up to my door with torches and pitch forks demanding my head for that one. Women have strived for decades to earn an equal footing in the working world with men. Before a year ago, I would have laughed at the idea that somehow, giving up my 9 to 5 job might give me a more fulfilling life. In fact, I probably would have been the woman supplying the lighter for the torches.

Michael Jackson...Because I'm a Good Mom
He’s captivated by the drum beat and fire eaters in "Remember the Time" and enthralled by the dance moves in “Bad,” but his absolute favorite is the harmonization of "Earth Song." Ever since my six-year-old son heard the opening intro to “Bad,” he’s been hooked. He loves anything Michael Jackson, and comically, it’s almost become an unnatural obsession. He begs for me to play Michael Jackson songs on any car trip longer than five minutes and studies the dance moves of the music videos on YouTube.

Things I've Learned from a Great Father About What Makes a Good Man
The things I’ve learned from a great father about what makes a good man are many, to be sure: honesty, hard work, generosity and a sense of humor. If you ask me about my dad, I’ll tell you these are his four most salient characteristics and the four values I strive to embody—I’m not sure I’m nailing it, but I’m trying, every day, to follow his example. Doing so makes me a better man and a better father.

Being a New Mom Really Sucks!
When you're pregnant, you have all of these blissful aspirations about how wonderful everything's going to be. You think about the kind of mom you'll be, and how your birth will be prefect. Sometimes this happens, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the baby won't come out or your blood pressure skyrockets. Because really, you can't control your birth. Babies and Their Baby Things
If you're on your first tiny human, then I am guessing you know the feeling of sheer panic when they break out in hives or have a raging fever that is hot to the touch. Seems like, these days, it's hard to even trust the pediatricians because when you report that "hey, my baby has been projectile vomiting for two days," all they really seem to say is that you're crazy and the baby is fine. What, with all the vaccine propaganda going on, we don't know whether it is best to vaccinate or not vaccinate. Well, that is fine because this article is going to share ALL of the information that you could possibly need.

Footsie Pajamas
I jump up in bed, heart pounding; I hear heavy knocks sound on the front door. I know that sound, that heart wrenching thunder that has been a constant in my young life. They were at the door again, causing panic as I hear my father getting up in the other room. ‘What’s going on now?’ is all I can think as I hear my little sisters calling out to me in the darkness of our room.

The Invincible Man
"My dad is stronger than your dad." "Well, my dad is smarter than your dad." Many of us have gotten into childhood arguments with friends or adversaries over whose dad was the smartest, toughest, richest, etc. When you grow up with attentive, involved fathers, it is easy to begin to see them as larger than life. Seriously, my dad was always one of the strongest and the smartest. He was also hard-working and family-oriented. He had a passion for his faith and his family. He believed strongly in education, hard work, and loyalty. He still believes in those things, however, to look at him now, one would think he is helpless, hopeless, and haywire.
