The Ghost of Mother's Day Past...
I'm awakened by the sounds of my brothers fussing over cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. I have to get dressed. I moaned, pulling myself out of bed. Today I'm going downtown to the 5 and 10 to buy my mom a gift for Mother's Day. I saved every penny, nickel, and dime to get her something. I loved my mom, I was the only girl among four brothers. She was so beautiful, small and petite. But her laughter could fill a room. See, some days she would be sad. On those days, she would just sit and stare out the window, smoking cigarettes and humming some inaudible tune. Other days, well, she laughed and drank with her girlfriends. She made dinner, cleaned the house. She might even play cards with us, Gin Rummy. My father worked out of town with a Persian Rug and Artifacts Dealer, so he would be away months at a time. My brothers and I loved when he would return... arms loaded with toys and treats. Beautiful trinkets and jewelry for mom. So I have to get her something special, my dad won't be able to make it in time to celebrate Mother's Day tomorrow. I don't want to see her sad, not on Mother's Day.

Pregnancy
In early December last year, I found out that I was pregnant. Me and my partner had not been together long and we were already in a sticky situation due to him trying to gain access to see his daughter. Getting pregnant was such a huge shock for me and my partner, as I had previously been told that having children was never going to be an option for me because my womb was deteriorating—not only that, but we were using contraception.

Oh Man! The Dream Job!
I’ve been a stay at home father for almost three years. I also drive Uber on the weekends to pay for a couple of the household bills. It’s actually really nice to be able to interact with adults for a couple hours a week. Meet new people. It often turns into the same conversation though. That conversation usually ends up at either, “What do you do other than Uber?” or “Do you still cook?” That’s when I tell them I am a stay at home father. There are four typical responses. “Awww,” or “Oh, how nice, that must be incredibly rewarding,” or “That is a job in itself, a hard full time job,” and my favorite, “Oh man, the dream job! Hahaha.” These four responses almost always fall neatly into four categories, all of which are probably pretty obvious.

Make Homemade Play-Dough
I am a mom to a five year old boy and one of his favorite things to play with (besides his toys) is play-dough. Play-dough is super fun for kids. They can make anything, literally. My son comes up with some pretty interesting ideas when it comes to play-dough, ha-ha. Buying it for my little one makes him so happy, but I absolutely dislike how quickly it dries out. I continue to have to buy more and more and it becomes a little crazy.
