Who Would’ve Thought?
Bryson is a 45 year old financial consultant, who never married or had children. He lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he was born and raised, being the only child of James and Anne Williams. They were a close knit family until Bryson began letting his work consume him. Five years ago, Bryson was supposed to fly out to his parents home in Los Angeles for Christmas. However, he canceled on them because of work. They decided to fly out and surprise Bryson instead, but sadly never made it to New York. There was a snow storm, causing the pilot to lose control of the plane, and crash. Bryson’s parents died that night. The devastation and guilt overtook him, causing him to stop working and interacting with friends. No work meant no money coming in, and no money meant no bills were being paid. He had no real desire to live life fully, felt unworthy of happiness, and therefore found himself wandering through life aimlessly. After being evicted, he began sleeping on park benches, and after much searching, he finally found a hidden spot in his favorite park, Prospect Park, where he remained.

My Legacy (Extended Addition)
Driving down the old familiar road, I gripped the steering wheel and tried to keep my mind from wandering. The cold fog from a week ago had seemingly turned into a thick and heavy could that hung over the road as I drove. When I arrived, My sister was already there waiting for me inside. I Silently entered, my eyes unable to meet hers so I started at the steps instead.

The Trash Bag Kid Confessionals pt. 2
We drove silently from the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in downtown San Antonio, Texas to the South side where the big red brick building I learned to loathe was located. That building being the Texas Department of Family Protective Services main office in San Antonio. We walked into the doors and I distinctly remember the stale smell of urine filled diapers from the trashcan and mildew. We checked in and the Case worker wrote my name on a name tag sticker that had the word visitor and date pre printed on it and stuck it to my shirt gently. I followed her to the elevator and she looked at me as she pressed the up button and said as kindly as possible "Don't worry, we are just going to help you Mother get you both home as soon as she can sweet heart...". I remember clutching onto my newborn's car seat even tighter in hopes that she wouldn't take him away from me too. It's strange how even now when I think about all this I remember feeling more like Mom had been taken away from me rather than the other way around.

Stormy Night
It was a dark and stormy night, the clouds covered the sky and the stars making it difficult to navigate and know which direction we are going in. As the clouds grew darker and ominous, the thunder started to boom across the dark skies and lightning followed behind it. After a short moment it started to rain, I started to have an uneasy feeling so I ran to my mother that was in our cabin that we were staying in and hugged her.

The Jewelry Box
THE JEWELRY BOX It was heartbreaking thinking about the death of my favorite aunt, Rosie. She treated me as if I were her only child even though she had several of her own. I tried hard to get through the day when the phone rang. It was my cousin Tammy. Ugh, what does she want? I answered the phone as if I were just waking up. “Hey Julia”, she said, not waiting on a response. “They have called us to mom’s attorney’s office, and for some reason your name was included in the will. So, meet us at noon at the attorney’s office. I will text you the address”. She then hung up without a word from me. I was as puzzled as I am sure she was. They knew of the relationship their mom and I had. I was there with her at the end, only me. But, I had nothing to do with the changing of her will. I hope this is not what this is about. I sat there contemplating whether or not to attend. I then called my mom. “Hey mom, this is Julia. “I know Julia”, she said. “So, mom, Tammy called me to tell me I was invited to the reading of the will. Do you know anything about that?” “Yeah”, mom said. “She called me upset that your name was on the will along with mine. I told her I understood why because you guys were remarkably close, and you were there with her when no one else was. She got upset and hung up the phone.” “Well, you know I didn’t do that to be paid. I just loved her so much and didn’t want her to be alone.” “I know”, mom said. “Just go. Even if it’s her jewelry box, I know she would love for you to have it”. “Okay, thanks mom. I will, just because you told me to. I will call you later with the details.” We hung up.

At The Table
There wasn’t much to see around the edges of North Avenue Station, but Lana stared out onto the metro tracks as if searching for something grand. The train was running six minutes behind schedule, as usual, stuck somewhere in the void of Atlanta’s lacking transportation infrastructure.

The Divine Chaos
When I was a little girl I dreamed of being many, many things. I thought about being a teacher, a librarian, a clothing designer, a singer, a songwriter. The one that stuck around and stood first to most was a Veterinarian who owned her own practice that was run from her farm. As I grew up that goal stuck while nurse, surgeon, actress and a few others floated into the mix. I went through school fantasizing about the future. Little did I know that the future would be nothing I expected it to be.
