I Just Love Spending Time With The Grandchildren As They Are So Darn Cute
Do you love to laugh? We have so many grandchildren that we get to laugh every time we are with them and even years after!
Julianna turned two in December. She is our youngest grandchild although there is one on the way. I watched as she approached the puppy. She had something small in her hand. I told my daughter as she was right by her. She went over and took a tooth from her hand. Julianna was attempting to give the tooth back to the puppy as it was a puppy tooth. So cute. Next, she proceeded to check out the older dogs' teeth and to show them to her auntie. I think she may have been wondering if the big dog was losing teeth too, or maybe making sure it wasn't a tooth that belonged to the bigger dog.
Julianna is so cute. She is just learning to talk and she is bilingual from attending a Spanish emersion daycare. She is teaching her grandma a few things and I can teach her a few things too from my Ojibwe language. I learned it is easier to learn a new language if you already speak more than one so why not I thought. She got a new stuffed animal at the grocery store when she was with me and she said F---s. I am not sure what fox is in Spanish, but I don't think it is that. So, I told her it is Waagosh. She repeated that and then I told her parents what I taught her. They already knew what she called the fox as she had another fox stuffed pillow.
The hubby and I have stories about most of our 25 grandchildren and 9 great grand. One of my favorites happened last summer.
The hubby has new knees and is not supposed to run on them. He does. He chases the grandchildren around the house usually. I was picking up the mail at the mailbox on the road when I saw him running after our 8-year-old grand and our 7-year-old was standing by me watching them when all of a sudden it appeared the hubby was going to fall. I closed my eyes as I couldn't watch. My granddaughter was all excited as she explained what happened. "Grandpa looked just like Batman trying to avoid something, and he landed just like a superhero!" I was so disappointed that I had closed my eyes and worse yet that I didn't film it!
A young adult grandson was staying with us as well as a pre-teen grandson from a few hours away, a city kid and we had local grandkids over that were planning to camp at our campsite. The city grandson decided he was going to stay in the house. I told him we only had one spare bedroom and that he would have to sleep with Brandon. Brandon overheard and said, "I sleep in the nude!" The preteen grandson said, "I do too and I fart in my sleep!" He won. He did camp with the grands his age though. Next, Grandpa and the two grandsons were going to the store. When they returned Brandon said, "He can rap." I said, he doesn't rhyme as well as your grandpa. He said, "He beat me in a rap battle!" That did it, they were buddies then.
Brandon was a young guy about six when he came running into the house to tell us that "the 4-wheeler got away with Emily on it, then grandpa John went chasing it and great-grandpa Alvin went running past grandpa John like he was standing still! I am not racing either one of those guys!"
The stories go on and on. One last story for today.
Grandpa was in his truck going to the dump with Logan and Paxton. Grandpa John tells the grandkids that his truck can fly. So on the way to the dump, Paxton asks grandpa to make his pickup fly. He was still at that age and he had heard of how there are cars that can fly. Grandpa said to him, Logan would cry. Logan in his teens didn't say anything as he probably still wanted to believe and I'm sure he was right where Paxton was one day not too long ago. Paxton thought about that and on the way back from the dump he said grandpa make your truck fly, then he quickly looked at Logan and said, "don't cry Logan, okay?"
