How to START a Healthy Lifestyle | 7 pillars of good health
It's a lovely spring day, and you've decided to reintroduce healthy habits into your routine just in time for summer. You turn to YouTube for inspiration and come across a familiar face. You know that healthy habits take time to develop, and consistency is bbbbbfor a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Today, we'll explore the healthy habits that I've maintained daily, those I no longer do or only do occasionally, and the new habits that I've embraced.
One habit I've always upheld is getting eight hours of sleep and waking up at the same time every day. I consider it a privilege to get enough sleep and prioritize it over other activities. Maintaining dental hygiene is another important habit for me, as I understand the value of preserving my adult teeth. I make sure to brush and floss daily, and sometimes use mouthwash.
Having struggled with my skin in the past, I now adhere to a consistent skincare routine that has yielded significant improvements. I cleanse and double cleanse my skin at night, followed by applying my essential products,
including vitamin C serum with hyaluronic acid, moisturizer, and sunscreen in the mornings. In the evening, I use retinol and moisturizer, occasionally incorporating other products. One mindset shift that has been helpful for me is considering chores as a privilege. I remind myself that having a healthy and capable body to work out and clean my living space is a privilege. Recognizing these privileges helps me maintain a positive and hopeful mindset. I also encourage making habits enjoyable by engaging in them with a friend or partner and setting achievable goals. It's essential to focus on how activities make us feel rather than how they appear. I emphasize that starting healthy habits is not about perfection but about personal progress. While I no longer track my daily water intake, I ensure that my water bottle is always full and readily accessible. This simple change has increased my water consumption, averting dehydration headaches. Nutritious eating is a priority for me, and I aim to consume 80% unprocessed whole foods while ensuring that fruits and vegetables are included in every meal. I believe in maintaining balance and allowing for flexibility in the remaining 20% of my diet. I advocate for doing tasks imperfectly rather than not doing them at all, emphasizing that any effort is valuable. Incorporating creativity into my routine through bullet journaling has been a source of enjoyment, combining planning and journaling in one place. In my ongoing efforts to enhance my routine, I am focusing on incorporating more stretching and using a lacrosse ball and foam roller for back and body relief.
