Book Spotlight of the Day

Each week we will focus on various books that I find to be an interesting read or one to be added to my To Be Read List.

This week’s book spotlight is Hags, Haints, and Hoodoo: A Supernatural Short Story Collection by Violette Meier.

Here is the official synopsis of the book,

Read about a sexy boo hag named Peaches, werewolves on a date, Mami Wata (an African water spirit) making a deal during an HBCU homecoming, a deadly goddess being born in ancient Kemet, and a variety of other electrifying tales. Violette L. Meier’s Hags, Haints, and Hoodoo is a creepy, humorous, entertaining collection of short stories worthy of being acclimated into American and African American folklore to be retold for generations to come.

It is a short but fun 88 page read that lends the reader to learn more about African American folklore and how it influences American folklore that we know about today. It holds such a historical influence from her family and their connection to the supernatural.
