Grandmother Moon And My Sisters
A weekend of fun with the mister

This morning, I was out to greet the sun and my first look out the door was the full moon. This photo above was taken at about 7:37 a.m. Stories were told of Nokomis growing up. In Ojibwe Nokomis is Grandmother and the moon was always referred to as Nokomis.
In October the Ojibwe names of the full moon are below:
Binaakwe-giizis (Falling Leaves Moon): October, lunar orbit September-October.
Gashkadino-giizis (Freezing Over Moon): November, lunar orbit October-November. (Stories by ZhaawanArt)
On Friday night I went to dinner with friends and then to bingo. The bingo was a fundraiser for the Fire Department in a small community about 40 minutes from my home.
Even though I didn't bingo, or win a door prize or raffle and didn't have a chance to try out for the loudest bingo prize!! That was okay because I had the opportunity to scope out the firemen! 😉 I had fun and will probably consider it again next year if I can get a nap first as it was a late night.
The good news about that was two things - 1) The drive home in the super hunters moon! 2) None of the firemen were as cute as my hubby. And as my husband says, "I will probably look until I'm dead. That doesn't mean I will ever touch!" And I agree!
When I got home from Bingo, Hubby was still with the grandchildren that we had for the day. They didn't have school so we got to spend the day with them. When talking to my daughter the day before she said, "I really should dress up for Halloween at work this year, as many do!"
Then she proceeded to say, but I want something simple. When I said she could take my witches hat and wig, she made a face and said, I don't want to wear a wig. Then the granddaughter said a clown face is easy. And she quickly said, "I don't want to wear all that makeup or a mask!"
So the granddaughter and I brainstormed what she could be for Halloween and planned to shop for it as a surprise for her! The Granddaughter came up with the idea of a pirate as she has a bird that sits on her shoulder and will even ride in the car and sit there no matter what she is doing.
I thought it was a great idea and she wouldn't need a wig or makeup.
Nope, she decided to be a charge nurse! Scrubs is all that is needed and she has those as that is what she does every day! Did I say she can be not so fun sometimes?
Then last night a sister-friend from a couple of hours away came to stay overnight. Her son's family lives just down the road and she will visit them too. Her granddaughters are a real joy. Her son calls her each night so that the girls can visit with Grandma. Hubby and I were included in that call.
So much fun having a sister come for a visit and stay. We cooked dinner together, played cards, and watched Hallmark! And most important we got to catch up on life happenings. Okay, so Hubby won at cards and Mary won when she and I played cribbage. Two games out of a best two of three.
I love having sister friends and I have many. Here are a few for you:
Sister Mary can be scary. She is a bit hairy. Hoping she will remarry.
Sister Rose is a twinkle toe. She is dancing and pracing to my best prose.
Sister Felicia is a real teach a of culture to increase a understanding of Waukesha!
Sister Juanita, a goddess or real sita enjoyed a margarita. She is a senorita.
(Okay sappy I know but I had to show you what I wrote when my office was tied up with someone's snoring!)
