Grandchildren And Great-grandchildren
Some of my favorite people

Together my husband and I have seven children and from those children, we have twenty-seven grandchildren with a little boy due in February. We have twelve great- grandchildren. I have been known to mention that it is even more fun having grands than children!
Over the years we have a ton of stories about grandchildren, and at least one grandchild is mentioned every day. Sometimes several. Today, we talked about Brynn (age 10) not having school tomorrow and spending the day. Then later this month we will be taking care of two siblings (age 10&11) while their mother is at a conference.
Logan sent me a Facebook feature on a Day in the Life of a Hallmark Movie. It was great! Short and sweet! Produced by the Content Machine. He knows I watch Hallmark and will tease me about Hallmark. He is 19 now.
When we were watching football and a player sacrificed his body for the ball, I remembered watching Brandon playing football and doing the same thing. I remember thinking...Ouch!
Then John was putting his treats away today above the refrigerator when he recalled how Preston would come into the house and look straight above the refrigerator and not say a thing. He knew right where the treats were stored. He knew Grandpa and Grandma would not refuse him.
All grandchildren mentioned today. Then there are the great-grandchildren. Three were sick this year during Halloween and couldn't come by for trick or treating. We look forward to having the little ones stop by.
Kristen, one of our older granddaughters has two of our great- grandchildren. She sent this note a month or so ago:
The girls went on a field trip to a museum today and they brought some spending money. When Toots (*Nickname) got off the bus, she came running to me to show me, she said, “Look what I got for my grandma! It’s for Grandma…I forgot her name. Joanna’s mom (*Her Grandma Joanna and Kristen usually calls me Grandma D). I have so many grandmas I can’t remember all the names!” I asked what made her think of Grandma Denise, she said, “I just love her so much and I never got her a present before.” 😭🩷 My Teah has the biggest heart.
*Authors note in parenthesis

She gave me such a special gift! It is just beautiful and the message is so sweet too. She has to be my favorite for a while right? Hubby says no favorites but I can tell he has favorites from time to time too.
It is because we are human and sometimes we see some more than others. And I have discovered that it doesn't have to be blood relatives to love them. We have bio, adopted, and step and I love them all, every single one. No exceptions.

Kristen is a single mom. She had her girls while married and now they share parenting by each having the girls one week at a time. It seems to work for everyone. The girls are doing great, so it seems to be working for them.

My grandchildren are the very best
Best of all and better than all the rest
Rest are pretty good too, but mine are special
Special because they are mine and they shine
Shine through and through, and they grow up so fast
Fast like a speeding train rumbling down the track
Track stars some of them. One enjoys soccer
Soccer because she likes to run
Run Julianna, run. Your daddy ran a marathon
Marathon called Grandmas. Maybe you will one day
Day to day it is time to slow down for now
Now is the time for time to slow down.
Down to the end for today
Today I'm loving my grands
Grands and great-grands too!

Your poem is just the right description of having grands and I have grandnieces and nephews and even a few great ones. Your article is simply great with family promise.
A lovely gift and a lovely story! I can't even imagine having such a large family!
That gift is so beautiful! Loved your poem as well!
OMG what a special gift and the photo shows how BEAUTIFUL those two are!!
This is so sweet, Denise! Grandparents are there for a reason - to spoil the kids with love and build great memories for them while the parents struggle to raise and discipline them. But we’ve all been parents, too, so it’s a nice way to pay back to the kids.
