Stories from recent life

When reading Facebook, I came across my granddaughter’s post. She is a good writer. This is a sample of some of her humorous writing, even though I’m sure that was not what she was thinking or feeling at the time. I thought I would share it with you. It is about my great-grandson that she is expecting.

My granddaughter has 2 girls in elementary school. One she adopted. One she gave birth to. Both girls have special needs. She shares parenting with the other parent. An every-other-week situation has worked well for them. All are excited about the baby boy. Her partner has 2 teen boys.

She did not have an easy pregnancy the first round, and now this baby appears to be a bit of a difficult pregnancy as well. See her story below.

Kristen said: Every baby check-up at this point is just me tattling on him. She asked how I’m doing, I told her the heartburn was so bad yesterday it felt like my throat was on fire and I started coughing so hard I peed a little in the parking lot at dance class and then I went to Super One and even though I just bought groceries, I got hungry because I can’t eat anymore with the heartburn, so I got even more groceries, even though I was there for two things, and then I had a contraction in the freezer section and then I waddled to my car and I couldn’t breathe because he’s filling up my whole belly so I had to sit there for a while to catch my breath and then I carried the groceries upstairs and had another contraction when I got to the top, then I cleaned myself up and tried to eat a peanut butter cookie but I got sick and then I laid down and tried to sleep but I woke up to my insides stretching and when I pulled the covers off I could see his butt sticking out right above my belly button and he wouldn’t relax so I just laid there waiting for him to lay back down so I could finally get up to pee again. Then she had me lie down to check his heartbeat, and as soon as I lifted my shirt, she saw his butt sticking out, and she said, “Oh my goodness, you weren’t exaggerating!” I told her he scares me. She looked frightened, too. Five more weeks to go.😭

About Hubby and a couple of older grandsons:

My husband has a very sore left shoulder and has been alternating between icing, then a heating pad, then ibuprofen, then an Aspercrem patch, and then icing, etc. He is also dealing with a sore throat and a numb finger. I told him what it could be, but he says he is not going to the doctor.

Men are such babies. He does not want to be poked and prodded. And he says if he is going to die, he doesn’t want to hang around and suffer. But it’s okay to suffer now.

He is 75 and was on the roof with a 52-year-old, a guy of similar age, and a 26-year-old grandson. He wonders what happened. He didn’t do anything to injure himself. At his age, do you have to do much to injure yourself? I know that I don’t. Granted, he is in better physical health than I am.

My daughter and her husband are building a house and hope to be done before the snow flies. Hubby is helping out most Sundays. Some of the work is heavier than other work, and this past Sunday, he started early and worked late.

He talked about how the 18 and soon to be 20 year old should be helping. He decided to tell them what he thinks the next time he sees them. The older one talks to him regularly.

I picked up the 18-year-old to give him a ride to work as he blew a head gasket on his vehicle. He told me that he found out it will cost him $3,000 to have someone fix it for him. Then he said, It will probably cost $1,000 for him to do it. His dad said, It will be a few hundred, if he helps him.

He doesn’t really have time, but they also don’t have time to get him to work and back.

Who else can I talk about?

The two youngest children of my daughters are very helpful and do a lot of work when my husband is there. He talks about how Brynn, the 11-year-old, is a terrific worker. And how Paxton, the twelve-year-old, is so very strong and helpful, also.

I think this is probably enough about family life recently!

The family is where most stories come from no matter the age you are from. You should write another book just about families.

This was such a warm and lively read. I love how you wove together humour, everyday struggles, and family updates. I remember really struggling with the shortness of breath during pregnancy, it's tough!

  • "when I pulled the covers off I could see his butt sticking out right above my belly button" Hahahahahahahaha omggg, that is both soooo scaryyyy and funnyyyyyy at the same time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hope your husband gets well soon
