DIVINE ENCOUNTER ON MOTHER'S DAY
He showed up again

Mother’s Day, May 11th fall on a Sunday,
I, her only child at home did not organize any party for mama because I make her smile and feel loved everyday when am close to her.
Instead, I announced the plan for the day;
I suggested to my two nephews and my cousin sister and mama that we are not going to church today,
We are staying at home and will have family devotion to thank God for our Mama,
All agreed.
I delegated the devotion plan;
My cousin sister will lead us with songs, I will take the sermon, and my two nephews will pray.
All agreed.
After breakfast, we began our devotion, I sat next to my mother.

As we were singing our 2nd worship song, holy spirit took over,
We went deep into worship.
At that moment, I heard my mother crying and shaking, which was unusual to her.
Curiously, I opened my eyes to see her,
And o!
Tears run down her cheeks!
Seeing her in tears was heart breaking.

I wanted to interrupt but held back.
She must have an encounter, I reckoned,
And captured the moment, an awesome moment.
After the worship, I acted as if nothing unusual happened and I shared the word of God from John 10:24b-27.
The Jews asked Jesus: “How long will you keep us in suspense? Are you the Messiah?” Jesus answered: “I told you and you didn’t believe; the work I did in my Father’s Name that testify about me, but you also didn’t believe me because you are not my sheep. My sheep they hear my voice, I know them and they follow me.”
I expounded on the bible text and holy spirit came through. We were blessed.
At the end of the sermon, mother requested to share her encounter,
Eager to hear her, all of us said ‘’mama please tell us…’’
She said: “while I was worshipping, I saw Jesus on the Cross, his body bleeding and his head hung low on his shoulder. Below him on the ground, I saw three women sitting there crying and looking up to Jesus. My heart broke to see Jesus on the cross and I cried.” She ended by saying: “our sins continue to nailed Jesus on the cross.”

I reflected on her vision and asked holy spirit to help me understand the message.
And behold the message!
“On the day the world is happy and celebrating Mother’s Day, there are many women and girls out there still suffering and dying from violence, inequality, poverty, and sickness. Political, social, economic and cultural conditions of this world have extremes negative effects on the lives of women, girls and children.
World Health Organization estimate that 35% of women and girls in the world are suffering from violence every year,
United Nation reported that 1 in every 10 women in the world lives in extreme poverty,
WHO estimated that around 260 000 of women died during pregnancy and child birth every year,
The global cancer death rate of women is around 76.4 per 100,000 population.
Women suffers from inequality in all areas - in leadership, decision making, jobs in public sector, distributions of wealth and resources. Women have a lot of barriers that limits them to equally benefit like men.

Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of the World is still in pain and agony seeing the conditions women are going through in this modern world, and He showed up again in this form to remind women who look upon Him that He care for them and He died for them.”
This encounter with Jesus was a special Mother’s Day gift to my mother. Women who believe in Jesus, will one day be with Him and their pain and suffering will be no more.

Author's note: I got permission from my mother, Rozuhu Narewec to write her story and share her photo.

That sounds like an incredibly powerful and meaningful Mother's Day devotion. It's amazing how the Holy Spirit can move during worship. Your mom's vision of Jesus on the cross must have been intense. I'm curious, how did it feel to hold back from interrupting when you saw her crying? And what was it like to share the Word right after such an emotional moment?
Glorious work Irene! This piece is so encouraging! I 🩷 it! Thank you for sharing! I love your mother's hair by the way! 🌸
