"A Mother's Silent Cries"
The night stretched on endlessly wrapping the world in darkness. The silence outside was deceiving because inside her a storm raged. Sophia lay on her bed staring at the ceiling, her hands resting on her swollen belly. The small movements of the baby inside her were a reminder of the life she carried the life she had to protect. She was nine months pregnant but instead of excitement she felt nothing but loneliness. Her heart ached in ways she could not explain. Her body throbbed with pain her back hurt constantly and every movement sent sharp waves of discomfort through her. But worst of all was the emptiness the crushing realization that she was going through this journey alone. She turned her head slightly looking at the man who lay beside her Daniel. Once upon a time his presence had meant everything to her. He had held her close whispered sweet promises and told her he would always be there. But now, he seemed like a stranger. Ever since she got pregnant things had changed. He no longer looked at her the way he used to. There was no warmth in his touch no love in his eyes. He spent long hours at work came home late and barely spoke to her. On some nights he would scroll through his phone endlessly and on others he would simply turn his back to her and fall asleep. Sophia had convinced herself that it was just stress that he was tired that things would get better after the baby arrived. But deep down she knew the truth he was drifting away.
A Night of Pain and Silence
A sudden sharp pain shot through her abdomen forcing her to bite her lip to keep from crying out. She clenched her fists and took deep breaths trying to endure it. It wasn’t the first time she had felt this pain but tonight it was stronger. She turned on her side hoping to find some relief but as she moved another wave of pain hit her. She gasped her body curling in on itself. The discomfort was unbearable but she didn’t want to wake Daniel.
She knew he would only be annoyed.
Tears welled in her eyes as she struggled to sit up. With trembling hands she reached for the glass of water on the nightstand but her grip was weak and the glass slipped from her fingers crashing onto the floor.
The noise startled Daniel and he groaned in irritation.
What are you doing? he muttered barely opening his eyes.
Sophia looked at him her heart sinking. She wanted to tell him everything that she was in pain, that she was scared that she needed him. But the words refused to come out.
"Sorry" she whispered instead.
Daniel sighed and turned his back to her again. Within moments, he was asleep, leaving her alone in her pain.
Memories of a Love That Faded
She sat there for a long time staring at the broken glass on the floor. Her mind drifted back to the early days of their marriage the way Daniel used to hold her hand the way he would kiss her forehead and tell her how much he loved her. She remembered the day she had told him about the pregnancy. She had been so happy expecting him to lift her in his arms to celebrate their new journey together. Instead his reaction had been underwhelming. A small smile a nod and then he had gone back to his work. She had convinced herself that he was just shocked that he needed time to process it. But as months passed his behavior only grew colder.
Now as she sat alone in the dim light of the bedroom she realized something love should not fade this easily. Love should not disappear just because a woman's body changes. Love should not abandon a woman when she needs it the most.
A Mother’s Strength
The baby kicked again and she placed her hand on her belly feeling the small movements. A tear slipped down her cheek but this time it was not just from sadness it was from determination. She had spent months waiting for Daniel to care. She had spent endless nights hoping he would change. But now she understood that she couldn’t wait any longer.
She was not just a wife. She was a mother.
And a mother does not need someone to tell her she is strong she just is.
She lay back down cradling her belly whispering to the little life inside her No matter what happens I will always love you. I will always be here for you. For the first time in months, she found comfort not in Daniel not in the empty promises of love but in the bond she shared with the child she was about to bring into the world. Because sometimes a woman does not need a man to complete her she only needs the strength of a mother’s love.
This story is a voice for countless pregnant women who suffer in silence, enduring not just physical pain but also emotional neglect. If you know a pregnant woman check on her. She may be smiling but inside she could be carrying a weight heavier than you can imagine.

This story really struck a chord with me. As a mum, I can relate to the feeling of isolation and loneliness during pregnancy, even in the midst of a loving relationship.
