Colonel
A colonel is an Indian Army rank higher than a lieutenant colonel and lower than a brigadier's rank. This position is equivalent to that of a captain in the Indian Navy and group captain in the Indian Air Force. Officers who serve as colonels command the Indian Army's battalion-sized units, which comprise infantry battalions, artillery regiments and armoured regiments. Lieutenant colonel

Captain
The Indian Army captain operates as a company commander and commands about 60 to 200 soldiers with the help of a non-commissioned officer. Officers appointed as the captain or company commanders oversee the tactical and everyday operations of the troops assigned to them. A captain's logo includes three five-pointed stars.
Lieutenant
A lieutenant is the junior ranked officer post in the Indian Army that comes below a captain's position. Officers who serve as lieutenants oversee the unit's work of about 40 to 60 subordinates who operate directly under their command. A lieutenant's logo is two five-pointed stars.
