Once upon a time, in a vast field full of fertile soil, two tiny seeds lay side by side. They were nestled deep in the earth, warmed by the spring sun, and nourished by the moisture from the rain. As days passed, they began to feel the urge to grow.
The first seed, full of courage and determination, said to itself,
"I want to grow! I want to push through the soil and reach for the sky. I want to spread my roots deep into the ground and become strong. I want to see the sunshine, feel the breeze, and dance with the wind. I want to grow into a tall plant and someday give life to flowers or fruit."
So the first seed began to work. Slowly, it sent its roots down into the earth. It pushed upward, struggling through the heavy soil. It fought through the darkness, the rocks, the challenges, and one fine day, it broke through the surface. It felt the warmth of the sun on its tiny leaves and the fresh air that carried hope. It had begun its journey of growth.
The second seed, however, was hesitant. It heard the same call to grow, but its heart was filled with fear.
"What if I push through the soil and find that it's too hard?" it wondered.
"What if I try to grow and a storm tears me apart? What if a bird pecks at me, or a child steps on me while I’m small and fragile? What if I never become strong enough? Isn’t it better to wait? To stay safe underground?"
And so, the second seed decided not to grow. It remained buried deep in the soil, hidden from the sun, avoiding all risks. It felt secure in its shell, in the dark, and it thought of the first seed as reckless.
Seasons changed. The little plant that had sprouted from the first seed grew taller and stronger. It faced rainstorms, winds, and insects, but each challenge made its roots firmer and its stem more resilient. The sun gave it strength, and the soil fed its roots. Eventually, it bloomed—bright flowers smiled from its branches, and bees came to collect nectar. It stood tall, proud, and alive.
The second seed remained in the ground, untouched and unchanged. But soon, it began to rot. The same soil that once protected it now started to consume it. Since it had refused to grow, it missed the chance to live.
One day, a bird came to the field. It spotted the young plant with colorful flowers and sat on its branch. It looked around the field, then dug a little with its beak and found the decayed remains of the second seed.
Two seeds. Two choices. Two paths. One chose to take the risk, to face challenges, and found life. The other chose fear, chose to stay comfortable, and was lost.
-Moral of the story:
Growth comes with risk. Life is full of challenges, but hiding from them leads to nothing. Sometimes, the biggest risk is not taking any risk at all. Only by stepping out of our comfort zones can we truly grow and bloom into what we are meant to be.
