The Blessings of Humility and How to Grow in It.

Proverbs 11:2 teaches, *“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”* A humble heart is teachable. It listens, learns, and grows. Wisdom flows easily to those who are willing to be corrected and guided.

The Blessings of Humility and How to Grow in It.

In Part 1, we learned that pride is a dangerous enemy that leads to destruction. But the good news is this: **humility is the pathway to promotion, protection, and divine favor.** While pride closes doors, humility opens them. While pride pushes God away, humility draws Him closer.

The Bible repeatedly shows us that **humility is not weakness—it is strength under control.** It is the ability to acknowledge God as the source of every blessing and to treat others with honor.

**1. The Blessings of Humility**

* **God’s Presence and Favor**

James 4:6 says, *“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”* Grace is God’s empowerment, His supernatural ability working in us. When you humble yourself, you attract more grace. This means divine help, open doors, and strength beyond your own.

* **Promotion from God**

1 Peter 5:6 declares, *“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you.”* The world says, “Promote yourself.” But God says, “Humble yourself, and I will promote you.” True and lasting promotion comes only from Him.

* **Peace and Rest**

Jesus gave us a beautiful invitation in Matthew 11:29, *“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”* Humility brings rest, because a humble person does not carry unnecessary burdens of pride, comparison, or competition.

* **Wisdom and Understanding**

Proverbs 11:2 teaches, *“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”* A humble heart is teachable. It listens, learns, and grows. Wisdom flows easily to those who are willing to be corrected and guided.

**2. Biblical Examples of Humility**

* **Jesus Christ**

The greatest example of humility is Jesus Himself. Philippians 2:6-8 tells us that although He was equal with God, He humbled Himself, took the form of a servant, and became obedient to death—even death on a cross. Because of this, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name above every name.

* **Moses**

Numbers 12:3 describes Moses as *“very humble, more than any man on the face of the earth.”* Despite leading millions of Israelites and performing mighty miracles, he remained meek and dependent on God. That humility gave him access to God’s presence and guidance.

* **David**

Before he became king, David humbled himself under Saul’s authority, even when he was mistreated. He refused to harm Saul, acknowledging that it was God who raises leaders and removes them. That humility positioned David for greatness.

**3. How to Grow in Humility**

Humility is not automatic—it must be cultivated daily. Here are some practical ways:

1. **Acknowledge God daily.** Begin and end your day with gratitude. Recognize that every blessing comes from Him.

2. **Stay teachable.** Accept correction without excuses. Seek wisdom from God’s Word and from mentors.

3. **Serve others.** Look for opportunities to serve, especially those who cannot repay you. Service kills pride.

4. **Avoid comparison.** Focus on your own race. Pride grows in the soil of competition, but humility thrives in contentment.

5. **Pray for a humble spirit.** True humility comes by the help of the Holy Spirit. Constantly ask Him to shape your heart.

In my opinion, humility is not just a virtue—it is a shield. It protects you from destruction, positions you for blessing, and keeps you aligned with God’s will. Without humility, no one can truly walk with God. But with humility, you can experience promotion, wisdom, peace, and grace beyond measure.

Stay blessed!!
