It Took A Prof to Change My Perspective
We have all heard it before. Teachers are the unsung heroes who are overworked and underpaid. Through High school, I never had a teacher that had changed my mind about writing until I reached university. I had recently finished upgrading at Mount Royal University and decided to take a few classes in open studies. Open studies, (for those of you who don't know) is a great way to figure out what you want to do in life or rather what you want to learn and get a degree in. So, I mustered up the courage and took a few classes such as psychology, Italian, and a few English classes. One of the English classes I took was creative writing it was an evening class, so a lot of the students that took the course were doing it for fun or just had to take an English course for their graduation. I was young and naive, to say the least. My prof had an interesting way of leading the class. He stood in front of the class and he wore a tweed jacket, had a peppered grey beard, and glasses to make him look intelligent and like any other professor. The class size was small maybe fifteen people at most.

Fall is simply the best time of year. Fall is all the golden, red and yellow mash-up tapestry you only get to see for two not-long-enough-weeks after summer has checked out. Fall has crisper, more urgent air than summer. Fall air takes nothing for granted. It reintroduces itself with each breath as it moves through your nose, your throat, your chest. Fall air is much like spring air, but fall air is fresh in a more carbonated way – a way that sensitizes for a winter that will eventually put an end to everything that fall is. Fall is football and World Series baseball and vacationers coming back from their summer sojourns.

Our Collective Lesson Plan (On Teachers of Color in This Moment)
This is how it was supposed to be after last summer. Conservatives have launched an aggressive assault on their rendering of critical race theory through state and local legislation in the recent weeks. There's the actual critical race theory was developed in 1970 with two pillars. They claim that white supremacy is embedded directly into our country’s laws, and that we can and must change the relationship between laws & racial hierarchies. Many in the media have noticed that the low-hanging fruit is that it is part of a multi-pronged attack on the Biden administration, and those who voted him in. None of the criticisms made about President Biden have had an effect on his approval ratings. Nor does his messaging. Evidence also suggests that the country's temporary support of the Black Lives Matter movement's goals has led to higher voter registration. This is a clear indicator that a party that views more voter participation as a problem will be more successful.

Bob Moses And The Enduring Education Injustice
Bob Moses was too excited to meet me when I met him for the first time. His book Radical Equations: Civil Rights From Mississippi to the Algebra project has dominated my pedagogical imagination for many years. It had influenced everything from how I taught integers to equations to slopes and equations. I had the honor of meeting Black liberation and civil rights activists like Angela Davis, Bobby Seale and Felipe Luciano. I also received tutelage from educational giants such as Linda Darling-Hammond and Karen Lewis. One man, among a few, sat at intersection of education and civil rights. Friends and acquaintances from all walks of life would tell me stories about him, encouraging my to search for him whenever I had the chance.

Remote Learning 2.0
In May, schools in Hong Kong were allowed to reopen. You can read my experience. Before the year ended, we enjoyed a few weeks in relative normality. After a local summer surge, we were able to get back online in time for the start this academic year. The situation was managed well, and we are already planning to reopen in a more gradual manner, beginning next week. But I thought it might be helpful to share the reasons and how we developed our remote learning routines and practices.
