Symptoms of sleep paralysis include an inability to move or speak, a sense of pressure on one’s chest, hallucinations, a feeling of suffocation, and a rapid heartbeat. Hallucinations experienced during sleep paralysis can range from visual to auditory and can be extremely vivid and terrifying. The experience can also last for several minutes, which can feel much longer due to the intense fear and panic it induces. There are several factors that could contribute to sleep paralysis.
