My life as a college student

What I have been through in these pass two year

By Alice ChenPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

My name is Alice and I am a transfer student at University At Buffalo. I choose to come to Buffalo because I want to get away from my parents and to see what it’s like living on my own. But I found out it’s not easy to live on my own because there are a lot of stuff that you need to pay. However, when Covid happened I didn’t get a chance to experience what it alike to be on campus and all my classes were online, but the apartment that I rented I still need to pay them even if I didn’t live in them for a year so I basically wasted my money.

Ever since I came to Buffalo I’ve been struggling to make money because I need to pay off my school and I also need to pay for books and supplies. So I have to pay off all of this and I didn’t have enough to pay for food so for the past three weeks I couldn’t eat anything. These days is not easy to look for a job and I apply for a lot of jobs but none of them accept me.

I never thought my last year of college will be so much difficult because all my classes are not easy and I didn’t get to experience what is it like to be in a four year college in this short period of time. I feel that for this past semester it has been really stressful but I had to overcome everything because I want to make a good impression of myself and became the best so I’ve been working so hard A guinea good grade, passing on my class and I let my parent be proud of me of all the things that I achieve.

Life is not easy now, so there will be all kind of struggles and challenge waiting for us, so we have to overcome everything. What I learn from living away from my parents is that everything I have to do by myself because without my parents by my side there will be nobody helping me so everything I have to do by myself and it’s like a learning process for me so I think this is the challenging part because I’m used to my parents cooking for me and always giving me advice but now I’m living away from them it’s like everything afternoon to do it by myself without any police help.

I don’t regret coming to Buffalo because it’s like a lonely process for me and it’s like taking a risk to do something that you have never did before. So I believe that people should always take risks because you don’t know what kind of struggle and challenge stuff are waiting for you.

Coming to Buffalo has made a big change in my life because most of the time I have to solve my old problems and do everything on my own without my parents help. So my two year our university at buffalo has been a stress because most of my classes are challenging and to me sometimes the professors are confusing. But I did learn something that people should always take risk because you always learn something on the way and it’s like a journey or a path that you are taking to succeed in life. So you should never give up on your dreams no matter what even if the path that you take will be stressful and overwhelming but at least you have a dream that you are going after because this is what you want in life.
