Confessions of a Teacher #1
Being a teacher is hard. Scratch that. Being a teacher is arguably one of the most bloody difficult jobs on the planet. I've watched grown men and women literally brought to tears by 'that kid.' I've watched seasoned veterans broken as 'that kid' tears down the walls of hard-earned resilience that had been earned in the fiery crucible of the classroom, until those walls were nothing more than fine sand in the wind. 'That kid' is really taking a pounding in this article, but for any man or woman that has spent any time in a classroom, 'that kid' is an apt phrasing for what we really want to say.

Ads embedded within the videos or sponsored ads explained to you by the Youtuber. And while you try all the tactics to avoid them - either installing Adblockers, skipping through them or simply not looking at them - we see them often enough that our curiosity gets the better of us.

Grammatically Speaking
What’s Happened To “Me?” As an ex-English teacher, I am offended, more than most normal people, by the incorrect usage of words. I know that we don’t usually speak like we write, and that it’s OK to let words change with the times. Take the word “gay” for example: one cannot use this word in contemporary Western culture without directly or indirectly referring to something or someone homosexual; its contemporary meaning has replaced its traditional usage. Gay was once a nice, simple word with no political overtones but has forever changed. There is nothing wrong with that; our language evolves. From Shakespeare to Beat Poetry, to Rappers and beyond, artists depend on their creative use of language. But creative usage is not the same as bad grammar. The word “me” being replaced by “myself,” by virtually everyone today, is just wrong, and should not be ignored any longer.
