Guardian angel

Guardian angel

By RENEE WRIGHTPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

A few days before Christmas, a neighbor's kid brought me a cardboard angel.

"This is fake. There are no angels in the world. Tommy pulled his arm against my short wooden door and talked to me outside the garden.

"Actually, there are such things as angels. I have two of them." "I said seriously to the child.

"Where is it? Tommy asked me, looking up quizzically.

"Not now. If you had known me years, I would still be living with them!" I pull my child's hair.

"Where is it? Where are they now?" Tommy pressed passionately. "Over there, under that star, they live."

"Really, you didn't lie to me?

"Really."

"If it was angels, how could you leave them? I think it's a lie." "I did not know, I did not understand, I did not feel that these two angels were watching over me, even at night with sleepless eyes!"

"Who can live with an angel without knowing it?" "There are so many. Most of them, like me, don't know!"

"Are they all children? Why do angels keep watch over children?" "Because God secretly put the angel's heart into the child before he gave it to the angels, the angels were moved to cry at the sound of their child's heart beating."

"Are angels sad? You say they were crying?"

"They often shed tears, because they love their children so much, so often shed tears for a lifetime, tears can not wipe ah, because the wing pound to protect the child. Even for a second I would not put down my handkerchief, for fear that the child might get sick from the wind and the rain."

"You're talking nonsense. There's no such stupid angel." Tommy laughed and dangled himself from the fence in delight.

"One day, the child who had been guarded finally grew up, the child said to the angel -- to go. And to the angels -- please don't come along, it's a nuisance."

"What did the angel say? "Tommy asked.

"An angel? They looked at each other, and without saying a word, they gave the best and most precious things around to the child who was going to leave. The child took the bundle and went away without looking back."

"The angel closed the door and cried?"

"There was time for the angels to cry, but they hurriedly flew to a higher place to see the child, and the child went faster and faster and farther away. The angels, all old, still struggled to fly upward, trying to see the child one last time. The child became a little black dot, and gradually the little black dot could not be seen. At this time, the two angels slowly flew home, closed the door, put out the lamp, and quietly shed tears in the darkness." "Where is the child?" "Asked Tommy.

"It doesn't matter where they go. The poor old angels, who have lost their children and their hearts, and have no shelter under their wings, can rest at last. But the wings that had held up for so long were stiff and hard and could not be put down any more."

"Where is the lost child? Don't you miss the angel who watches over him?" "Ah! When it's windy or rainy, he'll think of the advantages of wings, and he'll cry about them."

"You mean to say that the child only misses the good things about the wings, and not really the angels themselves?"

I froze for a long time at Tommy's question, holding the paper angel he had made and looking at the dusk sea speechless.

"You'll really miss angels later." I speak slowly.

'When?

"When the child knows. He'll miss the Angels day and night from the day he'll never get back."

"Why can't you go back?"

"Because a child who runs away from home suddenly wakes up one morning and finds that he too has wings and is becoming an angel."

"It's not good to have wings. You can fly back!"

"These watchmen are flightless, and their wings are used to shield them from wind and rain. They cannot fly."

"What's under the wings? Isn't the new Angel's job different?" "Just the same, under the wings is a little house, a home, a new child. Love and tears."

"It's hard being an angel!" Tommy came to a serious conclusion.

"It's hard, but they think it's the happiest job ever." Tommy stared at me without moving. "Do you really have two of them?" he asked.

"Really." I gave him a positive nod.

"Why don't you go with them?"

"As I said before, there is no going back to such angels. One's eyes light up and he realizes that they are angels, which he did not know before." 'I don't know what you're talking about! Tommy shrugged.

"You'll understand when you're older. It's impossible for you to know now. Oh, did your mum and dad??"

Tommy interrupted me suddenly. He said loudly, "My father works in a bank during the day and teaches at school at night. He is never home and doesn't play with us; My mother is always washing, cooking, cleaning, and scolding us children. My parents are not interesting."

Tommy's mother was standing at the far end of the house. "Tommy, come back for dinner, where are you?"

"You see, Lu Bumusu, I have dinner with you all the time. I hate having dinner." Tommy jumped down from the gate, nodded to me, and ran home, saying, "If only I had those two angels you're talking about, I wouldn't have such good luck."

Tommy, you don't know now, but when you do, it'll be too late.
