WHY PEOPLE WORSHIP ELON MUSK
My opinion

Because what would you do if you say , won the lottery and got $200 mil? Buy a mansion, get a few butlers… travel the world and get drunk in every pub ever? Then buy a yacht and an island somewhere and live out your days sipping cocktails?
Well Elon had this choice after selling paypal. But decided something else… he asked what can I do to better humankind with my fortune instead of just spending it all on me.
He then invested in Tesla and pretty much almost lost everything to restart the idea of the electric car and through that choice saved millions of tonnes of CO2 being ejected into our atmosphere. Very few people can say they had such a positive effect on the world.
His other companies like SpaceX and Solar City and ideas such as the Hyperloop makes the world exciting again and makes me look at the future and think at least someone is doing something to help stop global warming. Even if he is just one man, he is like Luke Skywalker to the people who love him so much… he brings hope to a Generation who feels that their elders have sold the planet for profit.
We might not feel the change that Elon has brought us now… but the gift he gave in betting his fortune, is that one day we will all look back and say that one man stood up and put his balls and his wallet on the line. One day all will say that Elon started the energy revolution and he will be remembered in the same light as legends such as Newton…
If you can’t see that, then you must look at your own role models and ask, “Is this man doing what he is doing just to enrich himself, get power, leave a legacy? Or is he truly trying to make the world better for everyone?”
2022 Edit:
After I posted this answer 5 years ago, Elon became the Richest man on Earth, he had fans all around the world for his innovative ideas and things he really did to better the world, he was the Geek who became “THE MAN” , I was looking forward to seeing Elontown on Mars… I did not care that he named his kid a bunch of numbers or that he even wanted to buy Twitter.
Then came the day that he decided to be petty during the War between Ukraine and Russia. He gave his silly opinion over what he thinks will be best for their country. I thought, aaah well at least he is still supplying them with crucial Starlink internet. Then he wanted them or the US gov to pick up the tab.
Bruh, You dont need more money… Then he bought Twitter for enough money to buy 6 cases of Klipdrift Premium Brandy for every man woman and Child in South Africa $44 billion Dollars, and without batting an eyelid, and with a snap of a finger, he made thousands of households, jobless.
Gone was the Visionary businessman, Gone was the Geeky guy that we all loved, he has gone full circle and became the Villain, he became the Bully. At this point I do not know if there are any people around still that like him.
Some people definitely like Musk. I’m not one of them - he’s not a very nice human being.
But can you name any other living biliionaires that people like any better than Musk?
I can’t think of a single one.
People get jealous - and because so many billionaires fail to leverage their wealth to do good for the world - they tend to assume that’s true for all of them.
But let the good that Musk does for the world speak for itself.
Think of the joy of that man who got the first human trial of the NeuraLink equipment…and think of the hundreds of thousands of others that will be helped to a similar degree.
Think of the many thousands of lives that have been saved by the automatic crash avoidance of Tesla cars (I’m probably one of them since last week’s little “incident” with a red-light-running idiot on Cinquo de Mayo).
Consider the elimination of (so far) about 6 million CO2-spewing cars.
Consider the benefits of StarLink for people who live beyond the reach of cable/fiber Internet who can now participate in the world-wide Internet at decent speeds.
Consider the cost savings from Falcon-9 rockets launching 80% of the world’s tonnage to Earth orbit - and at about a third the cost of the competition.
Now ask which other billionaires are doing equivalent things.
I’d say that Bill Gates is - but he was just as badly hated as Musk during his active business career when Microsoft was monopolizing the computer industry and dragging our progress down by at least 10 years.
Jeff Bezos anyone? No takers for liking him?
Richard Branson has been fairly popular - but when you look at his actual achievements - it’s not much to write home about.
