We speak of magic as if it never existed, and still to this day, some think it never did.
What if I told you, magic is in you? In front of you, every day, staring you in the mirror, because that is the truth, my friend!
Magic is in those who believe in faeries and search for traps in the woods. It's the mother in the kitchen, using the wild herbs to spice the delicious goods she serves to her family daily. It's the man with fire brimming steel, glass and wood, creating a work of art to hang in his home. It's the child dancing in the puddles under a cloud of rain, connecting with the ancient spirits roaming beside us.
As said best, in the movie Practical Magic by Sally Owens: "Magic isn't spells and potions- your badge, a star- your talisman; it doesn't stop criminal in it's tracts, does it? It has power because you believe it does."
Believe in the unseen, the unknown that so many have spent years trying to bury as mythological, superstitious and flat out, false and fake. Believe that your soul has traveled miles to enjoy this moment of your journey. Believe that one day you could touch the moon, and if you truly want to, DO IT.
We may be subjected to being taught basic needs and essentials, but the truth is, nature can teach us more than any education and curriculum. The trees speak, the grass heals, the dirt revives- we see it in the nature every season cycle, why do we, at time, arrogantly believe we're above that? The earth dies and rebirths every year and yet, we limit our belief in ourselves! We see you can learn, be better, do better and essentially change our lives with just some motivation, good habits and changing mindsets- are we so blind, that we cannot see our own magic through our potential?
Exercise time - Let's say we're 5 and 6 again. Climbing the trees, taking the extra cookie, trying to stay out just a little longer than the porch light, so we could feel that rebellion? So we could feel like we stepped out of line from the norm rules, right? Is it so crazy, we wouldn't be able to manifest our own desires because we weren't so blinded by the rules and regulations of society? I'm not saying go out and commit criminal acts, but I am asking you to look beyond the surface- how FREE you felt as a kid in small moments like that? Our childlike minds, is the answer.
Whose to say, becoming a parent ourselves, wasn't an answer too? My children have taught me to embrace my inner child that I wasn't allowed to be. They've reminded me, life is much more exciting when you embrace the flow of the winds and go with the happiness. We were born of magic, we just forgot because they were too busy telling us how to be accepted.
So what if, we try daily, to rekindle the inner child we've worked so hard to mold into societies view of acceptable? What if, we chose to embrace life into the fullest, and see the magic reappear in our own perceived journey? What if, for one minute, we stop excusing our own magic and give back to the world, that reminded us we were magic, to begin with?
Maybe we can find that wind again, whispering we're still alive, we just needed to see the world outside to truly embrace, appreciate and utilize our magic for the good of love and balance.
