The Jinn Fled

The grandson of Ko-Venda Jinn had clung to the woman. Ko-Venda was the same jinn who had troubled Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) during the great flood…”

This short story was narrated by my grandson Taimoor, who is thirteen years old. He heard it from the family of his friend Zain Ali. Zain Ali’s mother, Nusrat Bibi, loves Taimoor like her own son. She is a pious, well-mannered, kind-hearted, and refined woman.

When Nusrat Bibi learned that she was expecting a child, her husband and the entire family were overwhelmed with happiness. The news was celebrated throughout the household. Her in-laws and parents took great care of her. Special attention was given to her food and nutrition, and she was not allowed to do any household work. After a long time, a child was about to be born into this family.

When she reached her sixth month of pregnancy, she suddenly became trapped in unbearable suffering and distress. She would scream constantly, create chaos, jump around, run through the house, and injure her face and body with her own hands. She lost awareness of food and drink and could no longer recognize people. These conditions worsened day by day.

Her husband and family were deeply distressed. Doctors were consulted, and treatment continued regularly and seriously, but no diagnosis could be made. Nusrat grew weaker with each passing day, turning into a skeleton. It was said that she was under the influence of jinn, possessed by a powerful and dangerous spirit.

Spiritual healers were approached, each performing rituals in their own way. Fruits, amulets, charms, and talismans were used, but all efforts proved futile. The atmosphere in the house became extremely tense, and every family member lived in constant anxiety.

Someone informed them about a spiritual healer in the city known as Shah Sahib. He was a righteous, highly educated, Sharia-observant elder, around eighty to eighty-five years old, and a major landowner. He performed spiritual healing purely for the sake of God. They took Nusrat Bibi to him in an extremely disturbed and critical condition.

After observing her, Shah Sahib immediately understood the situation. He explained that she was under the shadow of a very dangerous jinn. If she could be freed from its influence, she would recover.

During the spiritual session, Shah Sahib was assisted by his granddaughter, who herself was spiritually trained. Due to his old age and physical weakness, and because patients often become uncontrollable during such rituals, her help was essential. Moreover, Shah Sahib avoided physical contact with non-related women.

Everyone except his granddaughter was asked to leave the room. Shah Sahib began reciting tasbeeh, Surah Yaseen, Ayat-ul-Kursi, and other sacred verses in a loud, intense, and painful voice. Nusrat began screaming and repeatedly attacked Shah Sahib, injuring him once or twice. His granddaughter struggled to restrain her.

After nearly two hours, Shah Sahib addressed the jinn through Nusrat. He demanded to know why it was tormenting her and warned it to leave or face destruction. The jinn responded through Nusrat’s mouth, using abusive language and issuing threats.

Shah Sahib, holding a long iron rod, threatened to annihilate it completely while continuing his recitations. Eventually, after intense spiritual confrontation, the jinn admitted defeat. The divine verses bound its evil powers.

The jinn confessed that it was the grandson of Ko-Venda Jinn—the same jinn who had once interfered with Prophet Noah’s Ark during the flood and was punished by God. It claimed that Nusrat had unknowingly stepped on its children while passing under a banyan tree at night, injuring them. Out of revenge, they decided to torment her.

The jinn repented, surrendered, and agreed to leave her body. It requested only that Nusrat eat fresh goat liver daily for ten days and never return to that area again. Saying this, the jinn departed.

Within two to three days, Nusrat fully recovered and returned to her normal household life. Four months later, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy—Zain Ali, who is now Taimoor’s close friend.

She was protected through Ayat-ul-Kursi, Surah Yaseen, and sacred verses. Shah Sahib refused any payment and even offered to send goat liver from his own home.

It must be clarified that modern science and doctors do not acknowledge jinn, yet the Holy Quran repeatedly mentions seeking refuge from the evil of jinn and humans, belief in which is obligatory.
