"The horror of hunger"

The Ghost Story

By LeasaPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

The horror of hunger was a legend that had been passed down for generations in the small town of Ravenswood. The story went that in the early 1800s, a terrible famine swept through the town, leaving the residents desperate and starving. In the midst of this, a wealthy landowner named Simon Ravenswood refused to share his bountiful harvest with the townspeople, choosing instead to hoard it for himself and his family.

As the town's residents slowly began to succumb to starvation, they turned to desperate measures. Some stole food, while others begged or traded whatever they had for a single scrap of bread. But despite their efforts, the famine only seemed to grow worse.

It was said that one night, a group of the town's most desperate residents banded together and broke into Simon Ravenswood's mansion, intent on taking the food that they believed he was hoarding. But instead of finding a store of food, they found only death and horror.

Simon Ravenswood and his family had died in the house, and their spirits were said to still linger, guarding the food that they had so greedily hoarded in life. The desperate townspeople were driven mad by the sight, and fled the house in terror.

From that night on, the legend of the horror of hunger spread throughout the town. It was said that anyone who entered the Ravenswood mansion would be met with the vengeful spirits of Simon and his family, who would drive them mad with hunger and drive them to their deaths.

For years, the townspeople avoided the mansion, believing it to be cursed. But as time passed, the legend began to fade, and people began to forget about the horror of hunger.

That is, until a group of teenagers decided to explore the abandoned mansion as part of a dare. As they entered the mansion, they were met with a strange feeling of unease. The air was thick with the smell of rotting food, and the walls seemed to be closing in on them.

As they made their way through the house, they found themselves growing hungrier and hungrier, despite having just eaten. They searched for food, but all they could find were empty pantries and moldy bread. As their hunger grew more and more intense, they began to hear strange noises, like the sound of someone whispering their names.

The house on the outskirts of town had always been known as the "Hunger House." It was said that the family who had lived there in the early 1900s had been plagued by a curse of never-ending hunger. They would eat and eat, but never feel satisfied. Eventually, they all wasted away to nothing, leaving the house abandoned for decades.

As a group of friends, we decided to explore the house one night, daring each other to spend the night there. We didn't believe the stories of course, but it made for a thrilling adventure.

As soon as we stepped inside, we could feel the weight of the house on us. It was as if it was alive, and it didn't want us there. We explored the dusty rooms, our flashlights illuminating the peeling wallpaper and cobweb-covered furniture. But as the night went on, we began to feel a gnawing in our stomachs. We had brought snacks and drinks, but suddenly they didn't seem to be enough. We were starving, and it felt as if the hunger was coming from the house itself.

We tried to ignore it, but soon the hunger became unbearable. We searched the house for any food, but there was nothing. We even tried to leave, but the doors and windows were sealed shut. It was as if the house was trapping us, feeding off our hunger.

As the night went on, the hunger became more and more intense. It was as if the ghosts of the family who had lived there were still there, still suffering from their never-ending hunger. We could feel their presence all around us, their ghostly hands reaching out to take what little sustenance we had left.

We were desperate, and we knew that if we didn't get out soon, we would suffer the same fate as the family who had lived there before us. We searched the house one last time, and in the basement, we found a door that led to a tunnel. We followed it, not knowing where it would lead, but knowing that it was our only hope.

The tunnel led us to a old, abandoned well on the outskirts of the property. We climbed out, and as soon as we were out of the house, the hunger dissipated. We were safe, but we knew we would never forget the horror of hunger that we had experienced in the Hunger House.

From that day on, we never spoke of the Hunger House again, but the memory of it stayed with us, haunting us as surely as the ghosts of the family who had suffered there so long ago.
