Scientists Argue Over How Universe Will End
Big Freeze Or Big Rip Theory?
The depth of the Universe, with the shining galaxies and unknown dark matter, is what has stimulated humans curiosity till today. Yet, as we delve deeper into the mysteries of space, one question looms larger than all others: Where will it all lead to?Similarly, we can learn the origins of the universe in the sense of Big Bang while scientists and cosmologists built theories explaining its ultimate demise. In this role on the cosmic stage, the Big Rip Theory and the Big Freeze Theory have emerged as the two leading candidates, giving a peek into a possible conclusion for the universe.
Imagine at all, the limitless universe where even the fundamental ingredients of matter are ripped apart. This is the picture of the apocalypse envisioned by the Big Rip Theory. At the heart of everything, dark energy, which is the main reason for the relentless expansion of the universe, remains a mystery. While dark matter enjoys its darkness manipulating the gravity profile of the entire universe, dark energy distances galaxies from one another as the process accelerates with time.
The whole theory of the Big Rip depends on the victory of dark energy over the gravitational forces. As the universe expands uncontrolled, dark energy attains its equilibrium, its ultimate configuration being the rundown of the space-time itself. Galaxies are moving away from each other, stars are falling apart, and even elementary particles are destroyed by the process of de-evolution of the Universe. Amid this catastrophic manifestation named, "The Big Rip," creation degenerates into intergalactic rubble, the whisper of its erstwhile beauty.
On the contrary to the big bang that stars the universe in a majestic blaze, the Big Freeze, on its turn, will present a sigh sounding, a cold and edgy finish for all. Here, the unending chaos reigns supreme, and unknown entities likely do it ruled by the brutal force of dark energy. At longer distances, energy is dissipated making them to come at the point of reversible process which is equate to thermodynamic equilibrium. Here in this frozen stasis, chaos tires and entropy is king, cosmos shrugs off from anything that resembles present structure and moves to a disordered state of maximum entropy.
Try to visualize such a universe in which no flames of warmth emerge or the last tinge of energy vanishes into obscurity. Suns no longer reign; planets wander off abandonment in the darkness. The deep freeze here is the cosmic one where everything starts to stagnate by entropy and its unstoppable passage, and thus becomes the Hunas (thermosphores), the heat death of universe.
While the pessimistic images of cosmic doom are painted in the foreground, other theories creep in the shadows with each one posing its own theory for the universe"s grand finale. It is no surprise that "Big Slurp," the term used, for instance, to denote by quantum mechanics, possesses a certain tendency of gravitation. Here, the very fundamental flux of the Higgs Field nears to almost become catastrophic, where the leftover particles of the decay can overrun the cosmos.
But, in the face of all this uncertainty, there emerges a spark of hope, and it is the idea of the "Big Crunch" which comes to rescue. In this case, the universe which was ( and still is ) expanding stops doing that, and the entire space collapses and then, again, the universe goes back to the way it was at the beginning - in a fiery cataclysm. Stars collide with one another, galaxies join forces, and out of the ruins of the old, the new universe is formed in a scene that can go on forever.
As we peer into the cosmic abyss, the question arises: Why bother the mind with the end of the creation? The answer is not supposed to be the abruptness, it is about the respect of the beauty of the ecosystem. Disopeneing the destiny of our universe, we seem to understand better the brief magnificence of our galactic sanctuary. Facing this infinity makes each moment precious and the whole universe a museum with a wonderful masterpiece on display – the stars.
As we admire the skies, therefore, let the world of the incomprehensible that lay in front of our dazzling eyes and the elusive nature of existence comfort and encourage us. Therefore, only during the last moments of the universe, while the echoes of the final breath can be heard, we can find some peace in knowing that the symbol of humanity is the curiosity and wonder, the same ones that give us the opportunity to learn about the mysteries of the universe.
