In a world that boasts tremendous progress and technological advancements, it is disheartening to acknowledge the injustices that still persist. From the depths of systemic discrimination to the oppression of marginalized communities, countless violations of human rights occur daily, often concealed by the noise of our fast-paced lives.

Welcome to my blog — a platform where I strive to shed light on global human rights injustices. My mission is to amplify the voices of the oppressed, challenge the status quo, and inspire meaningful change.

With each blog post, the aim is to share human rights violations, unravel stories of suffering, resilience, and hope. Through knowledge and awareness, we can collectively create a path toward a more just world.

This blog will delve into the struggles that individuals and communities face worldwide, examining issues such as gender inequality, racial discrimination, economic disparity, political repression, and more. Importantly, on this blog I will also share stories of grassroots movements, human rights defenders, and activists who fight against the odds.

This platform will serve to confront the injustices that afflict our world, starting conversations that break down barriers and providing knowledge that creates lasting change. Let’s embrace the collective responsibility to protect and promote the fundamental rights and dignity of every human being.

In recent years, the reputation of Saudi Arabia and its Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has been marred by the devastating 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. The international outcry and condemnation that followed placed Saudi Arabia in an unfavorable light, raising concerns about human rights abuses and calling into question the leadership’s commitment to justice. Recent developments suggest that Saudi Arabia’s leaders are making efforts to repair their tarnished reputation, with some speculating that the proposed LIV-PGA merger is a part of this strategy.

The murder of Jamal Khashoggi sent shock waves throughout the world and drew attention to the issue of press freedom and human rights in Saudi Arabia. As a prominent journalist and critic of the Saudi government, Khashoggi’s killing raised serious questions about the actions and accountability of the Saudi leadership.

It is not uncommon for governments and leaders to attempt to repair their reputations after a significant scandal or human rights controversy. In the case of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is reportedly seeking ways to improve the country’s international standing. One such strategy that has drawn attention is the proposed merger between the Ladies European Tour (LET), the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), and the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).

The LIV-PGA merger, which aims to create a unified women’s professional golf tour, has the potential to provide a platform for Saudi Arabia to showcase its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. By hosting international sporting events, particularly those involving women, the Saudi leadership hopes to shift the narrative surrounding the country and project a more progressive image to the world.

While the LIV-PGA merger may offer opportunities for Saudi Arabia to improve its reputation, there are legitimate concerns and skepticism surrounding the motives behind these initiatives. It is arguable that the Saudi government’s involvement in the merger could be seen as a mere attempt at “sportswashing” or using sports events to divert attention from ongoing human rights abuses. It is essential to monitor whether improvements in the country’s human rights practices and freedoms accompany these initiatives.

Aditionally, in an attempt to mitigate the damage caused by Khashoggi’s murder, Saudi Arabia launched its own investigations, arrested several individuals allegedly involved, and made changes to key government positions. The government also implemented economic reforms and pursued initiatives to diversify its economy, such as the Vision 2030 plan. These efforts were aimed at showcasing a more progressive and modern image of the country. However, according to reports, the United States government possesses intelligence confirming the Saudi Crown Prince’s involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Despite this revelation, the decision not to impose sanctions on the Crown Prince has understandably sparked public outrage.

The United States and Saudi Arabia share a long-standing strategic partnership rooted in mutual interests such as energy security, regional stability, counter terrorism efforts, and countering Iran’s influence in the Middle East. This relationship, forged over decades, carries immense geopolitical significance. Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s leading oil producers, and its stability is crucial for global energy markets. Imposing severe sanctions or measures against the Crown Prince could jeopardize economic ties. Saudi Arabia remains a key player in the Middle East therefore maintaining stability in the region is a priority for the United States, especially given ongoing conflicts in Yemen, Iran’s regional ambitions, and the fight against extremist groups like ISIS. By allowing the Crown Prince to escape accountability, the United States is compromising its commitment to human rights, press freedom, and justice.

The 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi undoubtedly had a significant impact on Saudi Arabia’s international standing, and it is not surprising that the country’s leaders are seeking ways to repair their reputation. The proposed LIV-PGA merger, seen as part of this strategy, has generated both optimism and skepticism. While it is crucial to acknowledge efforts made by any government to address past controversies and promote positive change, it is equally important to scrutinize these actions and ensure they are accompanied by concrete improvements in human rights practices. The international community, human rights organizations, and the media have a crucial role to play in holding governments accountable and advocating for the protection of human rights, both within Saudi Arabia and beyond.

After having spent a significant time traveling throughout Saudi Arabia, I can say, that the society has been overwhelmingly friendly and accepting of me as an outsider. There are indeed, those people that are still part of the old guard, but, especially after tourism opened, the mindset has changed drastically. Of course, different areas of the country are more conservative than others and adhere to various sects of Islam, which even among the masses, may be considered extreme among the majority of Saudis. I have posted a few stories on Saudi Arabia, please check them out (all authentic photos too).
