“Make a wish” screamed Cheryl.
Fedana rolled her eyes at her friend jumping up and down. If anything she was sick and tired of angel numbers. Of course you’re going to see repeating numbers all the time if you’re on your phone all day she thought annoyingly to herself. She just nodded at her friend and went back to her scrolling. She came across one of those infamous chain mail TikTok videos telling her not to skip. She noticed it had 1111 likes and 111 comments. Just a coincidence she thought to herself as she pushed her straggling braids back behind her shoulder. She threw her phone to the side and looked back at Cheryl who was grinning from ear to ear at something she was watching. She changed her focus to looking at the window. She was lucky that her parents bought their own land and built their house there instead of being in a subdivision or some crammed place. She loved looking over the river and trees they had on her property. She got entranced with two birds dancing around each other. She couldn’t make them out at first but as they got closer, she realized one wasn’t a bird and it was heading right towards her window! The almost robotic looking flying drown continued to maneuver around the bird chasing it and stopped right infront of Fedanas window. It stood their in the air for a good minute just staring at fedana with its holographic face before it changed expressions into a smile. The Bottom of the drone suddenly opened and out fell a medium sized box with a thud on the ground. The drone immediately flew off in haste before Fedana could even run outside to stop it. She jumped to her feet and quickly scurried down the steps and outside to where her window was making Cheryl snap out of the scrolling daze she was in. She shouted after Fedana but it sounded to far away for her to hear. Fedana had so many questions abou what had just happened and would think she was dreaming if it wasn’t for the cold breeze that chilled her skin when she stepped outside. Fedana proceeded to walk to the box and saw a finger print scanner on the top. At first she thought it had been a normal cardboard box, but now could tell that this was very strong and sturdy wood. Wood that could survive a two story drop and stay all entact. She heard Cheryl murmuring behind her but was tuning her out as she searched the sky for a sign of the drone.
“Where did that come from”?
“What do you think is in it”?
“Do you think it came from our wishes”
Fedana shook her head at all of Cheryl’s questions. She loved her friend and loved spending time with her, but Fedana also hated explaining things more than once. So she kept quiet as she knelt over the box to get a better look at what she was dealing with. Her name was printed on the box in white bold letters right above the thumb print scanner. Fedana put her finger on the scanner and within about 5 seconds later a hologram popped up from the hole right above and an angelic voice followed calling from the sides of the box.
“Peace be upon you Fedana. I have heard your cries, dreams and wishes. I know you have a longing to come home and though you may not know why or what that means I hope this small piece of home brings you some answers; although I am not able to give them all now. Hug your earth parents for me and know in your heart I still and will always love you.” The cloaked figure talking proceeded to take off her hood at the end but only her eyes penetrated through the hologram and there was no denying they were the same bright yellow as fedanas. She thought it was a genetic mutation of her parents blue and green eyes. Now she knew that she knew nothing.
She looked around at Cheryl who looked at her in amazement before word vomiting,
“I always knew you were adopted, just didn’t know you were an alien.”
Fedana grunted “I am not an alien.”
Before quickly turning back to pay attention to the box that was now opening itself up. Inside was three things: a band, a ball of what looked like hair, and a plant that was not potted and it’s roots were moving around the box. The roots grabbed the hairy furry ball and presented it infront of Fedana before walking out of the box and to Fedanas garden. It found an empty place that was away from any other growth and shimmied itself into the ground. All of a sudden water burst from the top of the plant watering itself and the plant grew from a small stem with a bud and roots to a large almost tree like flower. Providing shade and color with its almost bioluminescent flowers budding from every side. The plant shook itself and released seeds into the ground. Little colored flowers started to sprout all over and a beautiful melody breezed off their petals.
Fedana and Cheryl stood there in shock. Fedana took her attention back to the fur ball in her hand and saw that it had started to unfurl. Slowly it changed from a light brown to all white. It’s tail unfurled and what looked to be like the tiniest fox ever sat in Fedanas hand. Fedana was in awe. The fox gently looked at Fedana before nuzzling it’s face into her hand. Golden eyes lit up at her in a fondly I’ve known you my whole life kind of way. He then jumped down into the box and put the band around his neck and almost in a tornado type of spin the fox grew three sizes. He stood confidently infront of Fedana on two legs, now coming to the same height as her.
He proudly affirmed “Hello Fedana,” he looked at the tree which waved its branches at them and then back at Fedana; “we’ve been waiting for this out whole lives.”
“This is exactly what I wished for” Cheryl exclaimed throwing herself on Fedana in a hug. More excited about the surreal events than Fedana was.
Fedana looked lovingly but also annoyed at Cheryl.
“I am never going to denounce your angel numbers again” Fedana said as she tried to shake off her shock. She still had so many questions, but one thing she was for sure; her life would never be the same. She would never look at boxes and drones the same ever again.
