Matisse Thybulle
Blazers Match Contract Offer For Matisse Thybulle, What’s Next For Dallas?

All right guys we have some disappointing news to get into when it comes to the maps and NBA free agency but we're going to start with the Positive first happy Luca day Coop you celebrating today of course we're celebrating with some hopefully more positive Maps news exactly it's 7-7 July 7th Luca of course wears number 77. type 77 down in the comments below to show love to Luka doncic [Music] all right guys Matisse steibel is not going to be a Maverick Harrison Graham Jeffrey cooperstein here with you as the Trailblazers have matched the three-year 33 million dollar contract offer sheet that the Mavs had made through thighball um coupe not exactly a surprise here but obviously there's a little disappointment because I think this is a player that could have helped Dallas out yeah this was I think the expected outcome Portland doesn't really have anything to lose by matching Bible it's three years and 33 million it's probably a slight overpay that's kind of why I think the Mavs had a chance of actually getting this deal done but it's not like Portland's gonna compete every year they're obviously a mess with the Damian Lillard situation and trying to get some the best offer possible for him as well so there's no downside to them matching this deal and it's it's a shame for the maps that they didn't get yeah look I mean thy will played his best ball of his career after getting traded to Portland last year at the deadline so I don't think it's a huge surprise and especially with them set to trade Damien Lillard they're going with this youth movement fibo is a young player you see him shooting 39 from three on almost four attempts a game and a small sample size with Portland a year ago and I think that's what intrigued the Mavs with how good of a Defender he is and the promise he showed as a perimeter shooter uh down the stretch last season but uh obviously uh this is the first I don't even say hiccup because the control was not in the Mavs uh hands but the first I guess I don't even know setback's not the right word either but first I guess plan that didn't go to plan uh for Dallas this off season because Coop we've it's been documented we've talked about Dallas has had a plan they've stuck to it and it's been executed well this time though they obviously knew they didn't control the full outcome and uh Portland decided to keep him around can't really knock Dallas for anything in this situation and I'm glad that Portland didn't drag it out either I know that's something that we had talked about as well it allows the maps to be more flexible with whatever moves they want to make so I'm glad that that didn't happen and I'm glad that we knew right away basically that Portland was going to match this deal so the Mavs can move on to other things yeah so that is the good news in terms of Bible we want you guys to chime in on today's news though with Matisse thaibel staying in Portland are you happy are you sad do you have other feelings let us know in the comments if you're happy that the Mavs didn't get that well maybe you're like oh it's an overpay you're not a fan type h for happy if you're sad about it type S for sad definitely a little bummed but I'm not surprised so so I can't really sit here and say it's some massive reaction one way or the other now I think it's uh about what's next for the Mavericks and Coop and I are going to explore that here coming up in just a moment but first Coop let's keep this positive train going let's go hit 24 000 subscribers I challenge you guys to get more new Subs on yesterday's Grant Williams trade news then Celtics today and they picked up a decent amount we picked up over 300 new subscribers and I promised you that I would take three Fireball shots if we did that and Coop has agreed to join me here so uh are we going right now I'm doing it right now all right let's do it no time like the press okay here's shot number one Cheers Cheers here's shot number two Cheers Cheers one more Down the Hatch cheers behind the scenes somewhere uh listen it's not even noon yet in Dallas so um that's uh that's what we're doing here we're bringing you guys the heat all right let's talk about what's next here for the Dallas Mavericks we've kind of just cooked up a few scenarios how about signing Kelly oubre Jr look the wing Market is pretty thinned out Uber obviously doesn't provide nearly the defensive you know capability of a Matisse diable but he was a 20-point scorer last year he's very athletic in the open court this is more of an offensive play but I wouldn't be opposed especially if it's part of that mid-level exception yeah he's a 20-pointed game scorer and he's no scrub defensively either I mean he can definitely guard twos and threes so I would like him here now the injuries are definitely a concerned as he's had a lot of those over the past couple of Seasons but it like you said the wing markets dried up a lot he's for sure the best Wing left if you're looking at non-sign and trade options so I think ubere would be next on the docket to use that mid-level exception on for sure and I think Coop an interesting scenario that could be in play especially if Uber's Market isn't quite what he was hoping for is could you sign ubre in that eight million dollar per year range move Seth Curry into that mid-level exception as well you combine those two for the 12.4 and then you save the bi-annual exception for next off-season I think that scenario would be pretty appealing you would have rather had viable with his defense but uh if those two players combined for your mle that's pretty good work for the Mavericks I don't know what Uber is going to command but if that's a possibility I'd be pretty happy with that yeah it the key for the maps is flexibility so whatever they could do to to to maintain that if it's if it means signing Uber for something less than the mid-level and fitting Seth into that or signing another player and doing it as well to be able to keep the bi-annual for next year or another guy this year I think that's the move the map should make for sure how about signing trade for PJ Washington now I definitely think this scenario is greatly lesson and after getting Grant Williams yesterday because there's some positional similarity there uh stretch four types who can play some three especially in Williams case uh but there's been a lot of Buzz about around Washington what's going to happen there he's obviously a restricted free agent as well do you think this is still on the table for the Dallas Mavericks it's on the table but I think it's it's signing trade for PJ Washington or you're trying to get a sign I think so too because he if he wants 18 million a year according to reports well the only way he gets 18 million years from Charlotte because his max offer sheet that he can sign is somewhere in like the 4 for 54. Grant Williams deal yeah exactly so if he wants 18 million a year a sign and trade is the only thing that could possibly happen I'm not sure if the Mavs want to go this route because I still think they want to upgrade at the center spot now what they could do is just sign an offer sheet that you just did for thiable and see what Charlotte does sure uh they would match that immediately but but hey you make them do it um I don't I'd be hesitant for a sign and trade Coop because you would have to include Tim Hardaway in that deal which means then trading for a sinner is dead like they're it's off the table yeah there's no you don't have enough assets to get that done I don't think maybe a guy like aviza Zoo bats would still be getable but even that seems unlikely so I think uh I would probably steer clear of Washington um and uh pivot to our next idea which is focusing on trading for a center now like how about the combination of signing ubere and trading for a center like would that be so bad I mean that's what we were just clamoring for with yeah I don't want to Center like DeAndre ayton and we should talk about this Coop you got two extra second round picks in the Grant Williams trade that those details came in after we videoed uh dropped the video yesterday uh so what if you revisit uh here with the Williams trade details by the way where Dallas gets two second round picks but what if you revisit Coop the Holmes McGee and Hardaway for ayton trade and now you throw the two second round picks like I don't know two seconds are enough to get it done but you've got more ammunition than you once did yeah that could definitely sweeten the deal for Phoenix as well and the Mavs also added Grant Williams who if you recall it has the same agent as Luca and DeAndre now Bill Duffy so maybe the connection could be made there to finally get this deal done I still don't buy the notion that Phoenix wants to go in into next season with DeAndre despite what's being reported out there it just seems like that marriages run its course and there's a they're heading for an ugly divorce I think the maps can take advantage of that whether it's this offseason maybe at the trade deadline I'm not sure but I don't think DeAndre 8 will be in Phoenix for the entirety yeah much the center trade maybe it is a something that gets Revisited at the deadline maybe it's you you start with the trio you have of Holmes Lively and pal uh Mark Stein has tripled down Javale McGee is not going to be on this roster whether it's trading him or uh stretch waving him uh but uh that's something to consider as well other centers that are out there maybe Miles Turner that seems like a long shot though click capella do you revisit the talks with Atlanta Jared Allen aviza Zoo bats if you like zubats a lot cheaper route like could you get zubots without giving up hard away if nothing for the fact that he kills the Mavs every single time he plays us I think look I think he'd be the best center you have it would be I mean could you could you do homes in two two seconds for zoobots and you get Luca or not a Serbian but a Balkan drinking buddy to uh listen that's never enough never never a Bad Thing cheers fellas uh okay uh Trey for Pascal siacom I just kind of wanted those one in there if you still want to get an upgrade at that Wing Spot 3-4 guy here in siakum um there's been a lot of Buzz the last 48 hours Coop around siakum uh latest report the Clippers are interested I think Boston sneakily might be lurking here with the moves they've made maybe couldn't make a move uh for siakum I think they've compiled like seven second round picks and a first this off season so they've quietly added some draft Capital if they want to make a move and he's a rental he's on the final year of his deal so I think trading for him for not a just crazy uh trade offer could be a possibility for a team and you know maybe the Mavs get in there is hard away your 2027 first Josh green and Jayden Hardy something along those lines is that enough to get siakum maybe you have to throw cleba in there as well yeah I don't know if the maps have the up have the assets to get a pascal sea outcome deal done obviously I would love them in Dallas I think he would be the perfect number at that four position yeah he's a fantastic number three on a contending team and I think that would be that would be unbelievable I just don't see this deal getting done because of the Maverick's lack of overall assets that Toronto would want so I think power ranking what's most likely here I think trading for a center I think it's kind of an order honestly well I think it's I they wanted to trade for a center all along yeah I think that would be number one Uber or Washington you could there hadn't been a lot of ubere buzz but maybe that I'd probably say Uber is more likely than one I think it's more likely to uh Washington siakum kind of distant three and four there so uh but based on the latest trade rumors around the league and just conversations and players who are out there I think those are scenarios that are at least plausible what do you guys think what should the Mavericks do next let us know in the comments section down below and join that conversation now Coop we do need to give Nico Harrison a pat on the back because even though Fievel didn't work out we still want to include that in this moves here because they did sign with offer sheet for Force Portland to make a decision up to this point look even if nothing else notable happens I still think it's been a pretty damn good off season for the Mavericks especially when you uh consider uh some of the shortcomings in the past yeah and it started right in the draft you dumb dumbest person salary onto OKC trading back to number 12 and drafting Derek Lively who they think is their center of the future and they're starting that development right away here they brought in Tyson Chandler to be a summer league coach some clips on social media of those two working together and the player come for him coming out was Tyson Chandler so that's a great move by the Mavs there and then getting Olivier Max heads Prosper with the 24th pick by taking on Rashaan home so you get two players for literally nothing just taking on Rashawn Holmes contract for this team yeah I was going to say even if they don't trade for a center Rashad Holmes is still an upgrade over one they had obviously you took care of the number one priority of the offseason by resigning Kyrie Irving and then you bring a couple of familiar faces back in Seth Curry and Dwight Powell and obviously the move that happened last night trading for Grant Williams the Matisse stable thing didn't work out but I think Miko deserves a lot of credit for what he's done this but I think the process was smart there hey let's let's sign this guy to an offer she fits what we're trying to do if it doesn't work it doesn't work um see like I feel like in the past coop the Bible offer sheet would have been like the biggest thing they did and then it was that worked out whereas this time it was like Domino five or six if it works cool if not you know it is what it is it's out of your control since he has a restricted free well I'll never forget the summer of 2019 when the MAV signed kristaps to the max deal instead of going out and working deals for free agents they were just celebrating at dinner with porzingis and it was just a disaster of an off season that frankly set the Mavericks back a couple of years so I'm glad that they're being actually proactive this off season instead of reactive they always had one big move in their bag and that move never worked out and then they didn't really know how to respond to the punch yeah so I'm I'm just glad that they've responded to responded to the punches here and have made some good moves this off like they've added a ton of depth you get your big move in Kyrie get a lot of pieces that can help you now and in the future with the two draft picks so I'm certainly excited about that I mean even again if nothing else happens you're starting five there they're obviously on the rotation Hardy and Hardaway would make seven kleba is in their own rotation eight uh I think that Dwight Powell would probably still get some minutes nine uh and look I think Prosper based on what you have right now would probably have to play he would play because you would need some defensive uh perimeter uh Wing play so that gets you up to 10. Derek Lively probably gets at least a few minutes so you're 11 deep Exum does he play occasionally maybe XM will be in the Frank Mila Kina guy he'll play in case of emergency yeah load management nights uh but uh again Coop and I are on the same page we definitely think there's more coming here you still have uh the full or close to the full mid-level exception so uh keep it locked in here oh by the way we should tease this live show tomorrow we are going live live on the channel I don't know what time yet early afternoon maybe we'll kind of work that out subscribe and uh keep tabs on the Community page here on the channel we will uh come up with a time and put that out there so don't cheat uh you guys will be live tomorrow we'll take some of your questions as well so for Coop I'm comparison if more news drops we got you covered
