How Do We Live in an Anti-Ecological Environment … Four Differences and One Answer
If Ecology rules in a certain environment, where does Anti-Ecology rule? I still vividly remember driving through the orchards in early spring in our region celebrated for fruit growing like apples, cherries, apricots, plums and more. The farmers were driving their tractors hitched to large spray tanks up and down rows of trees. They were dressed safely, with necessity I presume, in moon suits...covered from head with cap, mask and goggles to feet with heavy foam insulated boots. Not an inch of skin was exposed while they sprayed probably some kinds of fungicidal chemicals to avoid plant diseases and insect pests on the trees from the time flowers were opening to several times before the fruit was picked.

The Lair of the Baobhan Sith
There isn't much of the supernatural in the Scottish Highlands, but for the baobhan sith. Much like a banshee and vampire mixed, but is actually a dark fae, the baobhan sith is always a woman. She makes her home in the moors and swamps, drifting near enough to civilization to eat at night, calling out to those who taste of blood. Her hooves crunch the bones of the devoured, wayward souls that litter the Highland moors. On April 15, 1743, the trees fade into open grassland as the sun sinks below the horizon. A white and brown barn owl flies overhead, searching for it's dinner.

Singing To The Barn Owl
Singing To The Barn Owl; A New Beginning I inherited a country estate, which consisted of a house, a barn, and five and a half acres where two horses had been kept. I’d been longing for a place in the countryside where I didn’t have to listen to traffic noises and barking dogs. Well, now I could get dogs if I wanted them, and I figured I could tolerate their barks since they were family. The house seemed in reasonable shape. It needed a good cleaning, but so did my house in the city. Walking toward the barn, I noticed one of the windows was open. I hoped the exposure to the elements hadn’t damaged what was inside. I saw no signs of deterioration when I entered. I saw no mold or fungi, although I didn’t know if I’d recognize those elements if they were present. The barn had two horse stalls, plus a common area where I imagined hay had been kept. I saw small dung pellets scattered on the floor. I guessed they were from one or more owls. I looked up at the rafters. I didn’t see any owls or other birds. Perhaps the owl or owls only came in at night, after they’d hunted during the day for mice or whatever else was on their diet.

Following the Omicron wave, scientists predict the following events in 2022.
Consider a day in the not-too-distant future when you can arrange that summer trip to Italy or when you won't have to remember to take off your graduation mask. After the previous 25 months, it may seem impossible to forget about the pandemic for even a moment — after all, the coronavirus has gotten our hopes up before.

The Light of Civilization (and the Shadows it Stole)
Before you, my life made sense. It was natural to hunt at night. A flash of feathers and razor-sharp talons. A single swift blow, an all-encompassing pain, and then the calming invitation of joining the stillness of a cold, dead night. I was a pale-white reaper cloaked in darkness, unseen until the fate of my prey is sealed.

Freezing in Florida
The day before Halloween 2020, I wrote a blog for my website about my walking routine and posted pictures of me decked out in my Capris, neon tee shirt, along with my supply bag of ice water and sweat rag, among other necessary items for walking in the Southern Florida oppressive heat and unbearable humidity. Yes, the heat and humidity last well into October in my area of Florida. That blog has since been published as a story on Vocal.- The Walking Queen.
