It was, it is, it can be...Better!

I had the idea to rid the cities and towns of un-cycled vinyl banner material! I make tote bags and fanny packs, yoga mat bags, and doggie rain coats! Fiscars is with me all the way!

Upcycled vinyl celebration and event banners

My company, Earth Fabric's Up-cycling Sewist, also ads pockets to anything, remakes your old college sweatshirt to a pillow cover, makes "HoneyBums" pillows and "HandyBums" work aprons from your hubbies old jeans. I also have a hot selling selection of zipper pouches, tote bags and snap wallets (just great for gift cards), and a pair of Fiscars scissors is with me all the way!

I'm a sewist spending my off hours up-cycling un-cycled event and celebration banners for the local towns and cities - and can add pockets to anything!

MY STORY

I can, I do and I will, and a pair of Fiscars scissors is with me all the way!

Welcome to Earth Fabric's Up-Cycling Sewist Shop!

I'm a sewist spending my off hours up-cycling un-cycled event and celebration banners for the local towns and cities - and can add pockets to anything!

The current batch of banners were gratefully gifted me by the Recreation Departments of The City of Raleigh and The Town of Cary. The idea came to me as I was contemplating how to make the most Green use of my 200 lb industrial sewing machine.

I bought the machine from a local upholsterer and churn through the banners to provide them to you, instead of the landfill.

At the time I had a part-time downtown office job which took me up and down the popular city streets hung with banners advertising the Railhawks, NCSTATE, Carolina Hurricanes, DTR Chamber, etc, and began to wonder what was the disposition of said banners?

This question lead me to the incubatory* idea to start a small downtown storefront offering seamstress, fabric up-cycling and teaching. I would also offer for local small businesses to join in a round table incubator builder engine. I have been so inundated with banner up-cycling that a formal proposal remains outstanding.

Please email me or 919-578-4929 to let me know of other 'women owned' 'craft' 'up-cycling' vendor locations coming up in the spring - I still have a ton of banners!

About Me:

*I am the inaugural graduate of Central Carolina Community College's Associate Degree in Professional Arts and Crafts: Clay & Metal Sculpture program where I concentrated on sculpture and taught two design courses. I graduated in 2005 and they say my business plan is still held as one of the most complete ever turned in. :)

It seems all my life I have been a creator/maker - designing neighborhoods and homes out of the rocks on our backyard hill and sewing doll outfits.

I am also a natural teacher of technology (well, at least, up to Word and HTML and once learned, web-based data management tools), and enjoy developing scripts or lists to aid in compressing the time used to update or create linked documents and databases. The knowledge I have of processes allows me to approach/develop new projects without fear and without pause.
