"I Am Green"
The color of life, the whisper of nature, and the promise of tomorrow

Not just in color, but in soul, in spirit, in the quiet rhythm that moves with the wind. I am the fresh breath of morning dew clinging to the grass. I am the shade that rests upon weary travelers when the sun burns too bright. I am the promise of renewal, the gentle reminder that life can begin again—always.
When you look at me, you may think of leaves, forests, or rolling fields. But I am more than just a color you can see. I am a feeling you can’t quite name, a calm that washes over you when you stand barefoot on the earth. I am the sound of rustling branches, the scent of rain on warm soil, the cool embrace of spring after the long grip of winter.
I have watched the world change. I have seen deserts expand and rivers dry, cities rise and forests fall. And yet, I remain—sometimes in abundance, sometimes in whispers, but always here. Because I am the root of life itself. Without me, the world would lose its song.
I am in the smallest seed, carrying the silent dream of a towering tree. I am in the algae that dances in oceans, feeding creatures you will never see. I am in the fields where farmers plant hope with every seed they sow. I am in the hands that nurture gardens, bringing beauty and food to your table.
But I am also a warning.
For too long, I have been taken for granted—cut down, burned, poisoned, and replaced with cold concrete. My rivers run green no more; my forests grow thinner each year. And yet, even in my wounds, I try to heal. I push through cracks in the pavement, I sprout from fallen branches, I bloom in forgotten corners of the world.
I am not asking for much. I only ask that you see me. Truly see me—not as a resource to be used, but as a friend to be cared for. Protect me, and I will protect you in return.
Every breath you take is a gift I give you. Every bite of food begins with me. Every shade of green you see in the world is a promise—that if you choose, you can keep me alive. Plant a tree, care for a garden, walk in the forest without leaving a trace. Choose less plastic, less waste, less harm. Teach your children to value not just what they can buy, but what they can grow.
I am in the emerald waves of the ocean, in the soft moss that covers ancient stones, in the light filtering through the canopy above. I am the green in your childhood memories—the fields you ran through, the grass stains on your knees, the apple you picked straight from the branch. I am the green in your future—the crops that will feed your family, the medicines yet to be discovered in untouched forests, the shade that will shelter your grandchildren.
Even in the heart of a city, I find ways to exist. I grow between bricks, I spill from rooftop gardens, I climb the walls of forgotten buildings. I am a fighter, a survivor, and a giver.
I am not just a color. I am life itself.
When you see me in the leaves of a tree, know that I am breathing for you. When you taste me in fresh herbs, know that I am feeding you. When you rest your eyes on a green hill after a long day, know that I am healing you.
Take care of me, and I will take care of you—for generations to come. But if you forget me, if you destroy me, you will feel my absence in ways you cannot yet imagine. The air will be harder to breathe, the soil harder to till, the future harder to face.
So remember: I am green. And as long as I live, you live.
