In the Land of Fairies, all the fairies and fairy princes were preparing grandly, as the king of Paristan, Arghun, was getting his daughter married Once the dowry arrangements were complete, Arghun called his daughter and asked,
“Daughter, is there anything we forgot?” Haram Pari replied, “No, Father. Everything is ready.”With affection, Arghun said,
“You are our only daughter. If you have any wish, tell me without hesitation.” Haram Pari said, “But promise me first that you will fulfill my wish.”(Smiling) “Alright, tell me, what is it? I won’t say no.”
Haram Pari said, “Father, I want to visit the human world.”Arghun became very worried upon hearing this.
He knew that the environment of the human world had become unbearable for fairies like Haram.
He tried again and again to convince her not to go, but Haram Pari was very stubborn.
At last, the king gave in. She excitedly got ready. After breakfast in the morning, she dressed in beautiful new clothes, groomed herself, kissed her parents goodbye, and flew toward the human world with her fairy friends.
Her mother became upset and said,
“You didn’t do right by letting her go!” Saying this, she went to her room. Meanwhile, Harm Pari was happy and reminiscing about her visit to the human world five years ago with her parents on her thirteenth birthday.
She imagined the same beauty would still exist. The fairies, lost in thoughts of green forests and waterfalls, flew onward. As soon as they arrived, they suggested playing hide and seek. One fairy said,
“Princess, there’s no greenery or waterfalls here. I’m scared.”
Haram replied,
“Don’t be silly! The human world is still far away.”
She was reassuring them—but in reality, they had already traveled far. There was no sign of lush gardens anywhere.
Tired, the fairies started descending toward the ground. As they landed, Haram Pari was shocked.
Some men were dressed oddly. One of them, after a passionate speech, said: “Go and bring ten children from different places. Maim them so I can make them beg. You’ll get rewarded too!”
Haram Pari's eyes filled with tears.
The fairies comforted her and said:
“Princess, let’s leave. Let’s find a green place to play and bathe in clean water.”
They flew off in search of a new place. After quite some time, a bit of greenery appeared in the distance.
They happily reached it, but it was only a garden in name. Trees were being chopped down, and there were no birds or animals to be seen.
The fairies began walking on foot. Suddenly, Haram Pari noticed a spring.
She ran toward it joyfully, hoping to wash her hands and face. But the water was dirty and foul-smelling. Haram quickly flew up and thought to herself:
“This water used to be clean. Oh God, what has happened to this world?”Just then, two children arrived and dumped trash into the stream.
One fairy screamed,
“Get up, the water is filthy!”
Haram said,
“Yes, everyone come up.”
Seeing Haram upset, the fairies said:
“Princess, look at the beautiful buildings humans have made! Let’s go there!”
Harm Pari replied:
“But look at the black smoke coming out of them!”
Suddenly, Haram Pari fainted.
The royal doctor told Arghun:
“Don’t worry. She fainted due to emotional stress.”
After a while, she regained consciousness but was coughing badly.
The doctor examined her and said:
“The air in the human world has become polluted.”
Haram replied:
“Yes, very much so.”
Then she looked at her father and said tearfully:
“Father, forgive me. I didn’t listen to you.
I’ll never go back to the human world again.
It’s not the same anymore.
Humans are destroying the beauty of their world with their own hands.”
Arghun replied:
“My dear, I told you. The world is no longer what it used to be.
In the name of progress and technology, humans have ruined nature.
In their greed, they cut trees and kill animals.
The sweetness of water is fading.
Soon even dirty water will vanish,
And lush lands will turn into barren soil.”
Haram Pari asked:
“But why is all this happening, Father?”
Arghun said:
“Water is one of God’s greatest blessings.
But humans don’t value it.
They dump waste into rivers and create disease.
Factories release toxic smoke and chemicals, polluting both air and water.”
Haram asked:
“What’s the solution?”
Arghun replied:
“Humans can still fix things if they try.
They must plant trees, use water wisely,
And improve their drainage systems.”
Haram Pari said with determination:
“Father, I will plant many trees in Paristan.
I will create a pleasant environment. That is my firm promise.”
Arghun said:
“Good girl! Tomorrow is your henna ceremony. Go rest now.”
The next day, the mehndi ceremony was held with joy. Everyone was happy.
In the evening, the groom’s procession arrived. But Arghun and his wife were sad, for Haram was their only daughter. At the time of farewell, Haram cried, but her father comforted her and sent her off joyfully. And they all lived happily ever after.
