The frog, commonly known as the field chicken, is an amphibian with a turquoise body, grayish stripes on its back, and smooth skin; a large mouth that accounts for about one-third of its flat, wide head; two large, beautiful, transparent eyes on either side of its head, bulging roundly; and two pairs of sturdy legs, the hind legs long and the front legs short, with webbing between the toes. The muscles of the hind legs are well-developed, and can generally jump 2 or 3 meters. When they reach their destination, the two long hind legs shrink, so that the whole body naturally sits on top of the hind legs.
The beautiful clothes of frogs are very different from those of toads, which are naturally formed because of their different habits: one is the time of activity is different, frogs are active during the day, toads appear in the evening, and they are also related to the location of their activities, frogs all day in the rice fields, ponds, ditches, while toad spiders are in The color of the skin is the same in biology. The same color as the skin is called protective color in biology, making the animal less likely to be detected by enemies.
Frogs usually crouch in the dense grass, seemingly motionless and relaxed, like they are quietly recuperating. But, when you look closely, you will find that the frog is staring at its target: rice borers, stick insects, flies, and other insects harmful to humans, much like a green guard in the crop field! Frogs are very interesting to hunt insects: first of all, they keep a close eye on the target, their big eyes open round, their white bellies bulging, and even the "skin drums" on both sides of their faces are also swollen round. Then, after calculating the best range of attack, the two hind legs stomp the ground, leaping up in the air and extending the tip of the long tongue. The unlucky insect was finished and became the frog's meal. Strangely enough, the frog's tongue is usually not long, but it looks long when feeding, because the frog's tongue root is not as long as the usual small animals in the back, but long in the front, the whole tongue is placed upside down in the mouth. When feeding, the forked tip of the tongue turns out from the throat, and the tongue becomes twice as long as usual, with mucus on the surface of the tongue, so pests can't escape!
The frog has no teeth and eats by swallowing. However, its digestion ability is very strong, the gastric juice can corrode the shell of food, and then after the digestion of pancreatic juice and bile, the residue is discharged by the cloaca. A frog can eat dozens of insects a day. Interestingly, frogs can only see flying insects, not stationary ones. Someone did an experiment, a dead fly tied to a very thin line, hanging in front of the frog, although close at hand, the frog also blind, not moving; when the experimenter will be the dead fly in front of the frog a shook, it immediately jumped up and swallowed.
Frogs reproduce in the spring and summer of each year. The larvae, called tadpoles, are black and have a long tail, like a small musical note. Tadpoles do not have lungs and rely on the gills on both sides of their heads to breathe. They live in the water by eating plankton, and slowly the outer gills become inner gills. After 40 days or so, the tadpole grows limbs, the tail gradually disappears, the internal gills disappear, and the lungs are formed, turning from one atrium to two atria and moving on land at the same time. This is when the frog becomes a beautiful frog.
Frogs are good at catching pests and are also good friends of human beings, but some people do not care for them. The frogs die in large numbers due to the indiscriminate application of pesticides and the frogs eat insects with highly toxic pesticides in their bodies, which also lead to their death. Frogs are beneficial insects, so let's protect and care for them!
